Page 6 of My Ex's Father

Chapter 4

Amber

Of course, Alex wouldn’t be content with just humiliating me. No, he has to try and ruin what I have with his father, too. Anger makes the inside of my mouth taste bitter. “I can’t say I’m surprised. I know he’s your son, but…“ I try to find the right words. I don’t want to offend Connor.

“But he’s an arrogant, selfish asshole,“ Connor completes my sentence. A giggle escapes my lips.

“That’s a pretty accurate description.“

Connor pulls me into a hug, and I lean into his warmth. I’m so pathetically glad that he didn’t write that text.

“I can’t believe you thought I would ever write something like that,“ he murmurs in my ear.

A blush creeps up my cheeks. “I just… I don’t know why someone like you would be interested in someone like me.“ The confession makes my face feel even hotter. Connor steps out of our embrace and cups my face in his strong hands. “I like you, Amber, because you’re kind, smart, and funny.“ I know it’s wrong, but I can’t help but feel disappointed by his words. Sure, I want to be valued for who I am as a person, but sometimes, a girl just wants to feel pretty and desirable.

“And,“ Connor continues, “I like you because you’re the most stunning woman I’ve ever met. The moment I laid eyes on you I needed to have you. You have no idea what dirty things went through my mind last night.“ Heat floods my core and my pussy tenses. I don’t know what to say, so instead, I kiss him.

Connor parts his mouth, and his tongue nudges against my lips, begging entrance. With his warm lips pressed against mine and his strong arms around me, my mind goes pleasantly empty. There’s no doubt, no worry. There’s only Connor and our passionate kiss. When we break apart, my breathing is ragged and my heart flutters. His eyes are dark with desire, and his voice is rough. “I would really, really like to take you home.“

A smile tugs at my lips. “Then why don’t you?“

His answering smile is sinful. I lean forward to kiss him again, but he grabs my arm, gently holding me back. “If you kiss me again, I’m going to throw you over my shoulder, and take you somewhere private. And as much as I’d like to do that, there’s something I want to show you first.“

“What is it?“ I can’t imagine anything could be more important than the two of us getting naked together as soon as possible.

“If I told you it wouldn’t be a surprise. Now come on, princess.“

Connor

I can’t wait for Amber to see it. I can already imagine her eyes going wide with surprise, how she’ll refuse to accept my gift. But I won’t hear anything about that. I know she wants it. And my woman will have everything her heart desires.

Throughout the whole drive, she’s snuggled up close to me, her head on my shoulder. I can smell the scent of her vanilla shampoo, and I breathe it in deeply. I want to run my fingers through her beautiful, sweet-smelling strands. And I will. Later. But now, it’s time for her surprise. And it’s time for my son to learn that his actions have consequences.

The limousine comes to a halt and I help Amber out of the car. The smile freezes on her face when she sees who’s standing just feet away from us. “Connor, what’s going on?“

“Do you believe me when I tell you I would never do anything to hurt you?“

She nods, a crease appears between her delicate eyebrows.

“Trust me, princess. Okay?“

She gives me a curt nod and reaches for my hand, holding onto it tightly. I give it a reassuring squeeze, before walking toward Alex and his fiancée. When he sees us, his eyes widen, and angry splotches appear on his face. His fiancée, whose name I still can’t remember, looks faintly surprised. All the botox she’s had makes it difficult to read her facial expressions.

“Why did you get your assistant to bring us here, father?“ His tone is carefully neutral, but I can hear the anger in his voice. If he’s angry now, he’ll be shaking with fury by the time we’re done here.

“Because we need to talk.“

“What’s she doing here?“ He sneers at Amber and I can see her flinch.

“She is here because she’s my girlfriend.“ I have a hard time keeping my anger at bay. But he’ll learn soon enough that he can’t treat my girl like that.

Alex lets out a harsh laugh. “That fat bitch is your girlfriend? Have you lost your mind?“

I grind my teeth. “No, Alex, I haven’t. And you’re the one who’s lost his mind if you think you can keep us apart with one stupid text message.“

He shrugs. “It was worth a shot. But if you insist on having my sloppy seconds, be my guest. If that’s all, we’re leaving.“ He starts to turn away.
