Page 46 of Relentless Pursuit

Over the course of a week, Kayla had given her notice at the station and accepted the position with Judge Cooper. She would start at the bottom, but the opportunity did have potential, especially if she did decide to go to law school. Her father wasn’t thrilled with her decision since he’d had to call in so many favors to get her the job at the station, but when she told him she’d found another job that paid more money, he didn’t complain. As long as she held up her end of the bargain and kept working full-time, he would help with her rent in the city.

On Saturday evening, she sat on Julian’s bed waiting for him to enter. The room was illuminated by various white pillar candles. They hadn’t been together the night before because he was working on a particularly stressful case and he had to meet with clients. She was disappointed she wouldn’t see him, but it gave her a chance to hang out with Connie. Now that Connie was seeing her new match and Kayla was with hers on the weekends, they didn’t get together as often as they had before.

Julian had been preoccupied with his case all afternoon and told her to take the day to relax and do whatever she wanted. She watched a movie, read a book, and took a bubble bath. It was a relaxing day, but she missed him. They hadn’t been together physically since last Saturday night. It was only a week, but it was a long seven days.

He entered the room without saying anything to her. He went to his closet and opened the first drawer in his play chest. Her stomach fluttered as she admired his bare back. She wanted to stand behind him, press her lips to his spine, and kiss her way day his toned body. He had instructed her to wait on his bed in nothing but her panties. So there she was, sitting cross-legged, boobs out, waiting to see what tonight’s session would bring.

As he took his time in the closet, she wondered what he thought about. She often wondered that. He was a complex man who gave very little away. When they were in the bedroom, he was at his most expressive. Taking his time, meeting her needs, and doling out praise when he was pleased. She was more than receptive to his actions when they were intimate. His demeanor, the way he treated her left her satisfied, but in an odd way always wanting more.

He’d made her greedy when it came to him and the time they spent with one another. She enjoyed their weekend dinners. She’d learned much about him during their meals. The more time she spent with him, the more attached she became. That was why last night was so hard for her. For the past few weeks, she’d gotten into a routine. One she cherished, looked forward to.

He made his way across the room to stand in front of her. She noted his feet were bare and his jeans were unbuttoned. “Get up on your knees for me,” he instructed.

She knelt on the bed, awaiting his next request.

“Did you enjoy your bath?” He caressed her breasts with the back of his hand as he gazed into her eyes.

“Very much.”

His tub was big enough for four people, and the jets were more powerful than a commercial hot tub. The heated tiles on the bathroom floor and the warming rack for the towels made her evening soak very pleasurable.

“I apologize for not being attentive to you this weekend. I plan to make up for that tonight.”

“I understand your job is demanding,” she said.

“This case is stressing me out. My client won’t listen to me. I was up most of the night last night trying to come up with a solution he will accept.”

“Maybe the next time you have to work on a Friday I could come here anyway? I’d be close if you needed me, even if it was just to talk.”

He stared down at her, probably pondering her request. The longer he waited to speak, the more she wished she hadn’t said anything. Now she was nervous, and when she was nervous she couldn’t seem to hold her tongue.

“I wouldn’t bother you when you’re working, but I would be here. I’d be waiting in your bed when you crawled into it.”

“I was rather lonely last night.” He swirled his finger over her nipple. “I didn’t ask you to come over because I didn’t want to be selfish. Now that I know you want to be here, even when we’re not playing, that changes things. I’m going to request that from now on. You can come here, even if I’m not. Let’s make Fridays a permanent situation.”

“Okay.” She liked the sound of permanent when it came to the two of them.

“I’ll make sure you have a keycard to enter the building, and I’ll get you an access code to the penthouse.” He kissed her. “I missed you in my bed last night.”

A sense of relief washed over her, drowning out any insecurities she’d developed when he hadn’t invited her to come over last night. She had agreed to a relationship without complications. If he were anyone else, she would have been able to hold up her end of the bargain, but every time they were together, her feelings intensified. Not being with him last night only solidified that she was falling for him. She couldn’t stop it if she tried, and she couldn’t dare tell him. She was convinced he’d end what they were doing if he knew.

“I admire your boldness in asking me that.”

“I like being with you.”

“Such a sweet girl.” He opened his hand and revealed some sort of jewelry. “I thought about one of the first times in the club when we went over your checklist.”

She studied the object in his palm, trying to recall their earlier conversations. They’d talked in length about what she expected to gain from such an arrangement. At that time, she had no idea. She still wasn’t sure what she wanted out of this relationship. Everything had changed once Julian became an option.

“Do you know what these are?”

“No.”

“Nipple clamps.” He outlined her breasts with his finger. “You said you wanted to try them. Of course, now I know most of your application was bullshit.”

“It got you interested in me.”

“Don’t make me punish that smart mouth.” He glanced down at the bulge in his jeans. “I don’t want to punish you right now, but I will if I have to. I want to bring you pleasure. Would you like that?”
