Page 45 of Relentless Pursuit

“He deserves whatever he gets, but I don’t want that kind of drama. It could follow me for years. I can take care of myself.” She didn’t like his attention, but jealousy should be reserved for people who were in a relationship. Not for people who were doing what they were doing.

“I thought you’d say that.” He kissed her slowly, igniting a fire in her belly that shot lower, making her forget in that moment that they weren’t a couple. “So, I’m going to propose a solution.”

“What is it?” She’d probably agree to anything he suggested at this point. He knew exactly what he was doing when he asked her to shower with him. Naked and exposed. She was vulnerable to any of his requests.

“I have a friend who works for the appellate court, a well-respected judge. He’s looking for an assistant. I’ve recommended you for the job, and he’d love to meet with you.”

“I don’t have a law degree.”

“You don’t need one for this position. He’s looking for administrative help and other tasks that would allow you to use both your writing skills and the knowledge you have from your criminal justice minor. It’s a perfect fit.”

“That’s a pretty big coincidence, huh?”

“I have friends in many places. If this position doesn’t interest you, we’ll find something else, but you won’t be staying at that station much longer. Not if you don’t want me to file a sexual harassment suit on your behalf.”

“What? No, I don’t want that.”

“I didn’t think so.” He caressed her neck as he traveled down to her breasts. “Can I tell Judge Cooper to set something up for you?”

“You totally bullied me into this.”

“I like to refer to it as persuasion. I’m a lawyer. Persuading people to see things my way is my job.” He cupped the back of her head and pulled her face to his. “You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do, but I think my offer is a better option for you.”

She couldn’t deny that. She hated the station, and not just because of Mitch. She couldn’t see herself making a career out of it. That place wasn’t for her.

“If you like the job, maybe you’ll want to pursue law.”

“Like more school?” She had thought about it, but didn’t want her father to freak out. Princeton wasn’t cheap, and while her dad had always provided a comfortable life for his family, he was hardly a billionaire. She wasn’t sure she’d make a very good lawyer, but she was more interested in law than television.

“I can help you with that too.” As he kissed her, he moved his hand down her stomach, his wet flesh gliding along hers. “I’ll do whatever you need, remember?”

She’d been aroused since last night. Leaving her unsatisfied was an effective punishment. Not only did it make her miserable, but it left her aching for him all day.

“I’ll meet with Judge Cooper.” She’d be stupid not to at least see what he had to offer. “I won’t give my notice at the station until I see if this is a good fit and I have an offer.”

“That’s a good decision.” He circled his finger just below her bellybutton. “I’ll have something set up for you early next week. I’ll tell the judge evenings work best, and if I’m available, I’ll take you myself. If not, Francis will be at your disposal.”

“That’s very kind of you.” She slipped her hand down his chest and to his taut abs, glancing down at his erection. She licked her lips. “I could help you with that.”

“I’m sure you can, and I plan to take you up on it that later this evening, but right now I want you to feel the pleasure I can bring you.” He spun her around, pressing her back to his chest. “If you truly took your punishment the way you were supposed to last night, you didn’t touch what belongs to me. Can I trust that’s true?”

“Yes.” She rested her head on his shoulder as he traced his fingers over her sex. “I didn’t want an orgasm if it wasn’t from you.”

“That’s the best answer I’ve ever heard.” He spread her open with his fingers as his thumb danced along her clit. “For that, you will be rewarded.”

“Thank you.”

“I’ll always meet your needs.” As his fingers kept a steady rhythm inside her heat, he trailed his other hand up her body and to her neck, holding her still as he kissed her with a force she had come to crave.

The hot water from the showerheads pulsed into her flesh as steam swirled between the two of them. His expert fingers moved in and out of her slick core, skillfully and effortlessly. All the while, he attacked her mouth, meshing his tongue along hers, taking what was his. He could claim her every night for the rest of her life and she would never have enough.

“Julian,” she cried out as her legs buckled beneath her.

“I have you.” He secured his arm around her waist as she shuddered into his hand. “I’ll always catch you.”

That was good to know, because she was falling fast for the one man she still wasn’t certain she could allow herself to have.
