“What you deserved?” Myra snorted. “You pretty much admitted to being a thief, ma’am.”
“It was Nick’s money as well, and he spent it on me! That’s not stealing!”
Daisy sighed.
“For someone who graduated valedictorian, you are incredibly stupid. How are you going to justify using my money for your illicit affair without sounding like the bad guy?” She shook her head. “To think if we hadn’t talked about moving across the country, this wouldn’t have happened at all. You would have carried on fucking each other behind my back while Nick was still married to me. You would have made me look more like a fool due to your selfishness.”
Elena shrugged.
“You know what I’m like, Daisy. If I want something, or someone, I get what I want. And that includes your ex-fiance.”
“If he loved you, don’t you think he would have dumped me first?”
“We’ve said we wanted your money.”
“And if he loved you, he would have gotten himself a job to shower you with affection. Something he refused to do with me.” Daisy fixed Nick with a hard stare. “It’s interesting that you’re keeping silent about this, Nick. You were prepared to barge into Lee’s apartment confront me about taking what was mine from the place we both called home. You had no qualms with being a bastard, and now you’re silent.”
Nick gave her a slight sneer.
“We’re currently dealing with that. You’ll be hearing from our lawyer about it.”
“Oh, really? Well, I’m sure you’ve heard from mine. Something about a cease and desist and the cancellation fee for the wedding?”
“You can’t expect me to pay that. I don’t have a job.”
“Then get one.” Daisy smirked. “Also, I’ve made a decision about getting my money back from the wedding. I’ve got a little bit back, but not all of it. Seeing as you two were the ones who made sure the wedding didn’t happen, I’ve also asked my lawyer to sue you for the remaining balance. That should be about…thirty thousand dollars, I believe?”
All the color drained from Nick’s face. Elena looked horrified.
“You’re going to make us pay for that?” She screamed. “Seriously?”
“Who should be paying for it? Nick ran out of his own wedding, and you were complicit. It seems only fair.”
Elena lunged towards her, only for Nick to pull her back.
“Don’t. She’s not worth it, Elena.”
“Oh, really?” Daisy turned to her ex. “Given you were prepared to put your hands on me only a couple of weeks ago, I’m surprised you’re subdued. Or is it because there’s a cop in here?”
Nick’s lack of response told her what she needed to know. If Myra hadn’t been here, Nick would be worse than Elena, even with Lee close by. Not wanting to spend more time with them, Daisy turned to Lee.
“Can I speak to you in private? It won’t take a minute.”
“Sure. Come into the office.” Lee glanced at his sister. “Myra, would you please escort these two from the premises? I don’t want them here, and I will call the cops if they don’t move.”
“Consider it done.” Myra gestured towards the door. “Come along.”
“But what about our cake?” Elena whined.
“Lee’s already said he’s not going to do anything for you, so I think you should go and find someone who doesn’t care about how you got together. It would be far easier for everyone else.”
Elena looked furious. Daisy couldn’t help but giggle at the sight; she really didn’t like being put in her place. Elena swung around on her.
“Do you have something to say, you little bitch? Enjoying yourself?”
“Very much so.” Daisy stepped around them, keeping a good distance from Elena. “I give your relationship six months before Nick cheats on you.”
Elena snarled and lunged at her, but Myra got in the way and pushed her towards the door.
