Daisy wished her sister didn’t know her so well. She sighed.

“Okay, fine. I did sleep with him. And it was fucking amazing. Which is the problem.”

“What? How is that the problem? I’d consider that a win.”

“Marigold, do you know how old Lee is?”

Marigold looked bemused.

“What? He’s about Allison’s age, so late twenties?”

“Twenty-six.”

“And?”

Daisy groaned.

“I’m thirty-five, about to be thirty-six. I’m much older than him.”

“So what? He’s not after your money, you’re still pretty hot, and you clearly both like each other in that way.” Marigold snorted. “Are you trying to say it won’t work between you because of the age gap?”

“It can’t possibly work.”

“Why not?”

Daisy tried to find a reason that didn’t sound stupid, and she came up with nothing.

“Well, people are going to find it weird.”

“You’re talking to someone who’s in a relationship with one straight guy and two bisexual men. I think I’ve got a better definition of weird if you compare us. At least you’ve got something more conventional.”

“It can’t work, Marigold.”

“Who says it can’t? How do you know if you don’t try?”

Daisy felt like she was arguing with a brick wall. She rubbed the back of her neck; it was beginning to feel sore.

“Also, when we slept together, it had been two days since I got out of a relationship. That could be considered a rebound. That’s why it was just for one night.”

“Sometimes, time doesn’t really matter, especially if you really like him.”

“Of course I do.”

Marigold raised her eyebrows.

“When I say ‘like’, Daisy, you know what I mean.”

Daisy did.

“And I ‘like’ him. And sometimes I wish I didn’t.”

“Oh, Daisy. You’re thinking too much into it. You’re allowed to have some happiness in your life. So what if Lee’s younger than you. If he treats you right and makes you happy, then that shouldn’t be an issue.”

“Well…”

“Plus, if he’s good in bed…”

“Marigold!”
