He tried to attack me, but Nikolay kicked him. The son of a bitch fell to the ground, letting out a small cry.
I nodded at him. Nikolay had wanted the pleasure of killing the fuckingpredatel’with his bare hands.
This would be my gift to him.
I walked out of the room just as Petrov’s screams rang out. Just as I was about to head down the stairs, sounds to my left caught my attention.
I walked over to the closet in the hallway and opened the door. Katherine hid in there, her eyes widening in fear when she saw me.
I pulled out my gun.
“No, please. Please don’t kill me. I’ll do anything for you. Anything.”
It wasn’t hard to figure out what she meant when she saidanything.
I didn’t bother hiding my disgust. She was an insignificant woman, but she knows too much. I put my gun away and closed the closet door.
She watched me with wide eyes as I walked away. I didn’t have to kill her. The fire would do that for me.
I ignored her voice as she called my name.
By the time I got outside and to the waiting car, Catalina was sitting next to Mikhail. She perked up when she saw me, and something settled inside me that she wasn’t looking at me like the monster that I was, and instead as someone worth her attention.
I opened my arms as I settled in the back seat of the spacious car. Slowly, she moved over to me and climbed on my lap. I wrapped my arms around her small body and felt her relax into my hold.
“Okay?”
She nodded, hesitating a bit before she leaned up and whispered in my ear. “What’s going on? Mikhail wouldn’t tell me.”
My eyes met Mikhail’s. I couldn’t hide my surprise over the fact that she was talking to me right now.
“Relax. It’s nothing for you to worry about.”
Nikolay came out, bare chest, and a clean shirt gripped in his hands. He quickly put it on. I was sure the one he had been wearing was covered in the bastard’s blood. And he didn’t change for mine or Mikhail’s benefit.
Catalina watched him carefully, and he smiled at her. It wasn’t pleasant.
“Don’t look at me like that, princess. We don’t have time to play when we’re making a getaway.”
She had that deer-in-the-headlights look that made her look too fucking adorable for her own good. Mikhail cracked a small smile.
I was sure Catalina could look at him in disgust and he’d still think she was begging for some playtime.
I shook my head and his smile widened.
Just then, a blaze of red came out from the corner of the house. Catalina looked at it with fearful eyes. Before I could tell her there was nothing for her to be scared about, she slid over to Mikhail, making me feel almost deprived.
She whispered something in his ear.
“Kotyonok, that’s not something we can just do.”
I watched them curiously.
She shook his forearms, her eyes begging him, before leaning in and whispering something else. I knew she’d won when Mikhail looked up and met my eyes.
He didn’t say anything when he pulled out his phone and made a call, putting it on speaker.
Maxim picked up. “Yeah?”
