“No arguments, Madalyn. This has gone on for too long. Something’s up and I would think you’d be tired of this by now.”

“I am, but…we can’t go.”

“Why not?”

“The pizza should be here soon,” she said lamely, and then gave him a small smile.

“Maddie, there’s a good chance there’s something seriously wrong with you. Maybe they can give you a shot or something to help with all the throwing up, but I think the last thing you should be worrying about is the damn pizza!”

“But I’m really hungry!” she whined.

“All the more reason to get dressed fast so we can go. The sooner we go, the sooner we can get back.”

“But…”

“I’ll deal with the app and the delivery. You deal with putting clothes on.”

“Fine.”

Thankfully, she didn’t argue and did as he asked. Dinner was a lost cause, but he figured they’d pick something else up on their way back. Hopefully the clinic could give Maddie something to help her keep some food down and they could finish talking.

Daisy’s words came back to him and he had a feeling that if she was right, talking about the future was about to take on a whole new meaning.
