Chapter 1

Angela

“I can’t believe you’re a dad fucker!” I hear Emory yell out as Alaric has her slung over his shoulder on their way back over to her place. I yell back. “You’re the one sleeping with the devil!” We both laugh, and Alaric says some sarcastic remark to her as he whisks her away.

I turn back to Eric aka Emory’s dad and slam my mouth back to his. I can’t believe this is actually happening. I’ve literally been imaging being with him ever since I was 15 and Emory invited me over for the first time. Eric was out in the backyard hammering away on some shed he was building back there. I took one look at the man and knew I wanted him.

It was strange being attracted to one of my friend’s dad, but Eric was different from the others. Most of my friend’s dads were old and bald and wore sneakers with socks while grilling in the backyard. Eric was different though.

He had Emory when he was still in high school, so he wasn’t that old. Only in his 30s. I was obsessed with all things boy related at the time, so of course I drooled over him when he’d be out back working without his shirt on. Mostly though, I liked him because he was nice to me.

The boys at my school were still always mean to me. You’d think they’d grow out of that stage when they got to highschool, but nope. I had the teenage fantasy of a dream guy like in the movies. Eric fit that for me. He was always so kind and considerate.

Me and Emory had been friends for a while at school before I ever met Eric. We got along from the moment we met. I think a lot of it had to do with her mom abandoning her when she was five and me not having a great relationship with my own parents. We were there for each other to talk about all things girl related that we couldn’t go to our parents with.

Of course I didn’t mention my crush on her dad. That would be weird even if he was only in his early thirties at the time and super hot. He was still her dad.

Of course, I was still a little girl back then too, but for some reason my infatuation with the man just never seemed to go away. As I got older, I only appreciated who he was even more. He has always been a stand up guy. I am not exactly sure why he never settled down with someone, but I am glad he never did.

Especially now since the past couple of years now, he has started showing interest in me. We have been flirting quite a bit for the past couple of months. It was innocent enough, but Emory was still giving me shit for flirting with her dad at first.

Things really changed between me and Eric though when Alaric’s brother tried to attack Emory to get back at Alaric. When Emory told me that Alaric was taking her away for a couple weeks so they could figure out what his brother was up to, I was so worried something was going to happen to them, and then she wasn’t texting me back that much to let me know what was going on. All I knew was that they were leaving town for a few days to lay low. Eventually, I got too anxious just waiting around and decided to head over to Eric’s house to see if I could get more information.

The second he saw the worried look on my face when he answered the front door, he pulled me in for a tight hug. I couldn’t hold back the tears as he just continued to hold me. He gently ran his hand over my back while whispering comforting words like “Everything is going to be alright Angie. They are going to be fine. You don’t have to worry.” Emory was more than my best friend though. She was my family.

When I finally pulled away, he gave me one of his smiles that told me everything would work out. He’s always been able to do that for me. He didn’t know at the time, but whenever I was having a bad day or wasn’t getting along with my own family, he’d always be around cracking these cheesy dad jokes that would make me laugh. They were so corny that they were hilarious. It was like he always just knew when I needed cheering up, and he never failed to try to make me feel better. Of course, he didn’t fail to do it this time either.

After he let go of me, he told me he was just making dinner and to come in and eat with him. He gave me more details about what he knew was going on with Alaric’s brother while we ate. I didn’t feel much better about the situation after I knew more. It only made me more worried that something bad was going to happen.

After dinner, I stayed and helped him clean up all the dishes. He pulled out some ice cream and two bowls, and we ended up over on the couch to eat dessert. He is just so easy to talk to. He was able to calm my nerves about Emory, and then he just continued on asking me about my life like he was genuinely interested in what was going on with me.

We ended up talking for hours. I didn’t mind. I didn’t want to go home anyway. Eventually, we both fell asleep on the couch. I woke up early while it was still dark out when I realized my neck was all cramped up. I could tell I wasn’t in my own bed, so I opened my eyes and saw Eric sound asleep next to me. I just smiled at him and quickly snuck out before he woke back up.

Not that we told Emory that. She thinks I just had dinner and left. She had enough going on, especially with what happened to her at the motel.

Since nothing actually happened between me and Eric, it was better to just leave those little details out of the picture. If something had actually happened, of course I wouldn’t keep it from my best friend even if it was with her dad.

I just still can’t believe she gave me the go ahead to make a move on her dad after all the shit she was talking about me thinking he was hot. She must just be too caught up in all things Alaric to care.

I bite down on Eric’s bottom lip, and he moans. I am only encouraged for a moment though because then he tenses up again. He sighs against my lips. “Angela…”

I literally will not be able to handle him telling me no again after he continued to put space between us the whole night ever since he picked me up from the club tonight. He is trying too hard to be a nice guy when I want nothing more than to have him ravish me.

I lean down and start kissing up his neck and running my hands down his chest. He just tenses again. “We can’t. I shouldn’t.”

I roll my eyes and kiss his mouth again as I start to unbutton the top few buttons on his shirt. His hand comes up and grabs my wrist. “You’re still drunk.”

I pull back slightly and raise an eyebrow at him. “I know what I’m doing.” Then I lean forward and bring my mouth right to his ear. I nibble on his earlobe a little as I whisper in his ear. “Stop fighting this.”

He groans and grabs my head and pulls my mouth back to his. His tongue tangles with mine, and I can feel his erection growing harder through his jeans. I reach for his shirt again, but before I can even undo one more button, he stops me again.

I slide off his lap and stand in front of him. I throw my hands up in the air in frustration. “Oh for Christ sake! What now?’ I place a hand on my hip. “What possible excuse could you add to the list?’ I narrow my eyes at him. “Look Eric. If you don’t want me, just tell me. I’m a big girl. I can handle it.”

His eyes scan down my body, and he clears his throat as he adjusts himself. My eyes follow the movement. “I obviously do. That’s not what this is about.”

I just roll my eyes. “Do tell.”

He stands from the couch and steps closer to me. “You’re too young for me Angela. You know it. I know it. Let’s stop this before things get too far.”
