“Jade, as long as you’ll have me there isn’t anything in this world that can tear me away from you or our child,” I tell her before placing a hand gently on her stomach. A small gentle push against my hand has me wanting to cry like a baby.

Her smile brightens as she looks at me before she lifts her shirt and I place my face against her warm skin. I rub gently marking her as mate and mother and she chuckles as she runs her fingers through my hair.

“Are all wolves this cuddly?” she asks, and Jace grunts because no one would ever say he is cuddly, at least not to his face.

“I believe they’re marking you so that other predators know to stay away,” Darius comments, coming over and sitting in a chair in my line of sight, giving me a wink.

“If that’s the case maybe we should just get naked and roll around so we make sure that my whole body is covered,” she suggests, and I can’t help the groan that leaves my lips along with all her other mates.

“You have been hanging out with Mila too much,” Silas says with a sigh.

“Before we get to the naked fun, perhaps you should have some food kitten, you barely ate before we arrived because you were nervous. Our nugget needs nutrition,” Darius responds and immediately my wolf is on high alert needing to feed our mate.

“What would you like? We have a huge kitchen with anything you could possibly imagine,” Jace says.

“I heard there might be a stash of dino nuggets lying around somewhere,” she teases Silas.

“Damn it Mila,” he says under his breath.

“Oh come on, it’s cute and they really do sound good. Maybe with a side of chocolate ice cream and some dill pickle potato chips,” she says and I hear her stomach growl at the last word.

“Wow, pregnancy cravings are real.” Her voice sounds astonished but her stomach continues to growl.

“Let’s get you fed,” I say getting off the floor, but before she can stand I scoop her up and walk off towards the kitchen with the others trailing behind.

“If I get carried everywhere from now on I think being a mate might not be so bad,” she jokes cuddling into me.

I don’t think being a mate will be that bad either as long as my mate is you, sweetheart.

Chapter Fourteen

BLACK COVEN

“Everything is going according to plan sister,” one of my younger sisters tells me as we stand over the looking pool watching the shifters.

Those fools think they’re getting happy ever after, but little do they know, that child will be mine.

“It won’t be long now, keep watch, I’m going to play with my pet,” I tell my sisters before leaving the room.

The evening air feels cool against my skin and excites me even more. It’s been a while since I felt like playing with my pet but with everything going as planned tonight I deserve a treat.

“Oh Level don’t look so glum, we’re going to celebrate,” I tell the thin man I have chained to the wall in one of our out buildings.

Level has been my most favorite plaything for the last ten years, I’ve had my way with the blond-haired blue-eyed Mage, over and over and never completely broken him. That’s why I’ve kept him around, well, that and the fact that the rare Mage is a magical battery for me.

The more I play with him, the stronger I become and the coven along with me as I share my power.

Right now he’s glaring at me as if he wishes me dead, not for the first time but it just makes me smile larger. He’s spelled not to speak so the only noises he can make are in pain.

Just the way I like it.

“We’re going to have fun tonight, my pet.”
