It was after seven when Ant finally put down her phone. Or tried to put it down. She missed the edge of her nightstand and it fell to the ground. Her bedroom was carpeted so the thump was muffled. But, it was loud enough to get Nikki’s attention as she walked past Ant’s on her way to the bathroom.

Nikki nudged Ant’s door open and peeked in.

“You’re up?” she said.

“Yeah.”

“You’ve been up all night.”

“How do you know?”

“I know everything.” Then Nikki let herself in, closed the door and took a seat on the edge of the bed. “Spill it.”

dn’t hold it in. “You’re right. He texted me and we talked all night.”

Nikki’s eyes grew wide. She snapped her fingers. “That guy from last night. The Monty’s guy you were talking to.”

“Uh-huh.”

“Oh, he’s cute.”

“So cute,” she said with a breath .

“Ooooh… You’re dad’s not gonna like that.”

Ant grabbed Nikki’s arm. “Promise me you won’t say anything.”

“I dunno…”

“Promise me.” She squeezed Nikki’s arm tight.

“Ouch. Okay okay I promise. So, what did you guys talk about?”
