“But you’re wholesome, and I think you’re a lot of fun,” he pointed out.
“That’s because we have sex all the time.”
“Yeah, that’s a lot of fun.”
Jordyn groaned. “Steve. I swear…”
He laughed and sat up, stretching his arms over his head. “All right, doll. I get it. You want me to take you out, huh?”
She nodded, glad they were finally getting somewhere with this. “That’s right.”
“And how about if I want to take you to a fancy restaurant? Take you dancing?” he asked, tugging on her braid again.
Jordyn forced herself not to deflate at his suggestion. Any other night she would love it. But tonight? No, not now. She was trying to get this man out and back on the town with his friends.
Friends that got into trouble. Not at a fancy dinner with her.
“That would be fun. But I thought you might want to, oh, I don’t know, go somewhere like the Velvet Throne?” she asked with a bright smile.
“Ahh, a club.” Steve nodded, fingers twirling her braid. “Didn’t realize that’s what you meant.”
“Well, you said you used to go to them a lot,” Jordyn ventured, biting her lip. “I thought, maybe, we could go together?”
“I went to them because I didn’t have you.”
“Oh.” She was unable to keep the disappointment out of her voice. She knew she should be happy about Steve’s perfect answer, but she wanted to try to mix things up and the perfect man was not helping her cause.
“Unless you want me to take you to a club?” Steve questioned, his fingers going still in her hair.
“I just—oh, I don’t know.” Jordyn crossed her arms and turned to face him so that their thighs were pressed together. “I just thought it might be fair, you know? Splitting up our time doing things we both like... plus, it could be fun. I mean, we met at that club,” she pointed out.
“We did.” Steve smiled at her and kissed her forehead. “Best thing that happened to me at a club, I’ll tell you that.”
“Really?” Jordyn looked up at him with a smile on her face at Steve's words. He just kept saying the right things, but at least now his perfect was lining up with her plans.
“By a long shot, doll,” Steve said, pulling her into his lap. “You looked so fucking good on that dance floor. The only thing I could think about was how fast I could get inside of you.” He kissed her, and she turned her face and giggled into the side of his neck.
“Same,” Jordyn admitted, causing Steve to raise his eyebrows. “Well, I mean, the you getting inside me, not, ah, not the other way around,” she said, wincing at her choice of words.
He laughed, kissing her again. “Oh, is that right?” he asked, a smile playing on his lips.
“Mmhmm. Don’t think I wasn’t calculating the fastest way to get you in my pants the first time I saw you.”
“Naughty girl,” Steve whispered, kissing her neck.
Jordyn closed her eyes with a smile. “Only for you.”
Steve made a pleased sound at Jordyn's words and shook his head. His eyes moved slowly over her and it took everything in Jordyn not to kiss him. She was on track to getting Steve to agree to a night out. She needed to keep her cool.
“You’re so sexy.” He told her, hands rubbing against her lower back, fingers skimming the hem of her shirt. Jordyn sucked in a breath at the slight brush of his fingers.
She took in a deep breath and forced herself to focus. “So about tonight?” she asked.
Steve’s fingers stopped moving and he frowned. “Why do you want to go out so bad, doll?” he asked.
“I guess, well, it’s just that I want…I want to see what you did before we met? I never got to know that side of you,” Jordyn said, hesitantly. Outside of the tattoo shop and Jamie, Jordyn had no clue what Steve’s world had been like before her. It was like that part of him had been cut off and that only made Jordyn more curious about that side of Steve’s life. Going out would be a good way for her to get a peek in Steve’s life before her while making sure he wasn’t missing out on anythingbecauseof her.
“That side of me wasn’t that great,” Steve said, quietly. He sighed and leaned forward, leaning his elbows onto his knees. “Trust me, Jordyn.”
