“Can we all pile in my bed and snuggle while you introduce me to Underworld television?”
“I get big spoon!” Pavlina yelled.
“No way,” Kimon said. “Big spoon goes to the biggest one of us, and that’s me.”
Tryphon just tossed his green hair over his shoulder.
“I don’t mind being River’s little spoon if it means snuggling with her.”
“Well, I don’t want to snuggle with any of you except River,” Demos huffed.
Well, that was new. I thought Demos hated me or feared me. This was clearly not going to go well. I wanted all of them, and I couldn’t choose. I wouldn’t come between them. Even if Demos and Pavlina fought all the time, they were a team, and they had a friendship before I came along.
“Maybe this was a bad idea,” I said.
Tryphon polished his nail polish on his robe.
“No, it was an excellent idea. These assholes just don’t know how to share. We will rotate spoons. Everyone gets a new spoon when we start a new episode. That way, everyone gets what they want. River needs this. Don’t ruin it by being jealous.”
“I can live with that. But I get big spoon first,” Pavlina said.
“Fine. But only because I know you’ll cheat and wrap us in a web if you don’t get your way,” Kimon said. “I get big spoon second.”
“I guess that leaves me third,” Demos said.
“You need to be faster, Demos,” Pavlina said.
Tryphon just yawned.
“All of you are neglecting to see the beauty of a beautiful woman snuggled into your back. I’m happy to be little spoon all night while the three of you make asses of yourselves for big spoon.”
“Is that finally sorted? What will we watch?”
“Hold on a minute. I think I want River’s little spoon too,” Pavlina said.
“You’re one greedy, horny spider, Pavlina,” Demos said.
Was it wrong that now that I was seeing them with their human faces, I was a little greedy and horny myself? I needed to stop with that because, clearly, monsters didn’t share.
“You’re all greedy and horny,” Tryphon said. “If you don’t stop, you will drive River away.”
“We don’t have to do this if you aren’t okay with it,” I said.
I was regretting even bringing it up. I was being selfish because I liked all of them. They all had pretty dominant personalities, even Tryphon, who seemed okay with this.
I was about to call the entire thing off when Pavlina straight up tackled me. We both crashed on the bed, and she snuggled into my back.
“Oh, we’re totally doing this, but none of these assholes are getting big spoon first.”
Kimon let out this little growl, and Demos huffed. Tryphon just glided gracefully over to the bed and slipped in.
“Be my big spoon, my pet.”
I wrapped my arms around his chest and buried my face in his green hair. He smelled like the scorching sun on the beach. I could get used to this.
Demos let out this irritated noise and placed his hands on his hips.
“I’mnotsnuggling with Pavlina!”
