Roqs and I found it funny when Brin looked scandalized that I’m naked. She placed herself in front of me to shield me in some way. I laughed harder. So did Roqs.Yes, I was naked because she tried to jump into the water again earlier. When I saved her, I lost a footing and landed chest deep into the water. She looked so cute thinking I was drowning. Good thing I took off my coat before she decided to try swimming.
She then gathered my pants and threw them at me hard. So I put some pants on. They are semi-dry now.
“Aw, I was enjoying the view,” Roqs said playfully.
“Well, I don’t feel comfortable,” she said haughtily even though we know she’s naked underneath the coat I have her.
Roqs walked nearer to us. His tail swirled around my leg as a sign of affection, greeting and a habit.
“What did Zirc do?”
“He called me a dud!”
Roqs turned his head back to me, pretending to be shocked. He knows how abrasive I am. I only speak my mind.
“Really?”
I wanted to punch him in the head. But Brin will probably cheer him on if he tries to hit me back. “I did not mean that in a terrible sense. I was trying to make her hold a crystal and true enough, she can’t fire it at will.”
Roqs looked at the brown crystal. Yes, even though it’s at Level 2, this is a medicinal crystal. Even young ones can hold it and make it work to heal other people. “I see.”
Yes, we both know what this means. “Brin, you are what we call a dud. Not that you’re defective. It just means that you can negate the effects of a crystal. Just with what happened the last time. The reason why you can move is that the power of the crystal doesn’t affect you.”
“But I got transported to this place using the crystals on the winox.” She countered.
I growled a bit at that. I’m still irritated that we might have caused her harm when we teleported using the crystals.
“I’m sorry about that, little one. I never knew of any red blooded beings that cannot take in the teleport.” I am glad she did not took away her hand when I held hers. “It only knocked you out for a few days.”
She doesn’t look impressed. Nor reassured by my words. Roqs and the others knew I reacted violently when she could not wake up. I shudder thinking what could have happened to her if she did not teleport.
Roqs felt my agitation and rubbed his tail harder on my calf.
“There is always a good and bad side of things.” Roqs, always the logical one. “We have so many things we don’t know about your race. There is no record of Earth or what you call the human race. Crix and Jigen are able to take your blood chemistry and map out everything in your body - No, they did not inject any tracking device or violated you. And we were there with you.”
What Roqs did not tell her is Crix and his mates are trying to figure out as well if the three of us are a triad. But based on their laboratory analysis, it looks like Brin is my mate and Roqs is not our mate. Which doesn’t make sense at all.
“Was it while I was sleeping?” Unconsciously, I pressed my hand tighter around hers then rub my thumb against her hand.Another trait I picked up from Roqs.
“No, that was only a scan. But this will help us understand how you are made and we can be more careful on what you can and cannot do on this planet.”
“Swimming on a lake is one thing you cannot do,” I interjected.
Roqs turned back to me sharply then back to her, “What?”
“Myracecan swim, if you must know. I love to swim. I have entered into swimming competitions and won when I was in college. I also know how to dive.”
It was Roqs who shivered this time. “Brynn. Swimming is like suicide for us. We don’t swim without any gear.”
She sighed and looked at the water again. “But that pink crystal seems to be calling my name. I kind of want to get it.”
We both froze. “It calls you?”
She looked back at us and laughed. “Brin, this is a serious matter.”
“Oh shoot. The crystals can talk back to you?”
We nodded.
