Mitchell brought his knee up, connecting with Davorion's balls. It was the most effective way to get him to let go of his neck.

Davorion doubled over, cupping his balls.

Mitchell kicked Davorion in the face and then in the gut. As long as he stayed down, Mitchell could get to Seryn before he got there.

Mitchell ran to the door. He had his hand on the knob when he felt Davorion hit his back and then the most excruciating pain he'd ever experienced took over his body. Once he realized the pain came from Davorion biting him, he reacted on instinct.

Mitchell slammed Davorion against the wall as hard as he could, but it didn't stop the attack.

Mitchell did it again, trying to hurt Davorion as much as possible. And again

Eventually Davorion grunted and stopped.

By then, Mitchell didn't have any strength left.

He stumbled to the door and made it outside in the hall when his vision blurred. He fell against the wall and decided to just stay there.

He saw Seryn coming down the hall, his duster billowing just enough to make him look bad ass.

Seryn squatted in front of him and cupped his cheek. He took too much blood.

Is that what happened? We have him right where we want him.

Seryn smiled that fake smile.I'm going to kill him now.

When Seryn stood, Mitchell pulled him down again. If he's alive, he'll turn on all the rest of them. The entire operation will go down. His fighting ring. The trafficking. Everything.

Seryn's eyes glowed red.

Killing him is better.

He's hurt a lot of people, Seryn. This time it's better my way. Get the lawyer here. The sooner the better.

Seryn huffed, but the cops rushing to Mitchell took his mind off pouting further.

It wouldn't be long before they put Mitchell in a holding cell. Seryn would go nuts then.

Chapter Twenty-Six

The lawyer wasn't even in the police station anymore. She left to threaten some politician. Seryn waited in front of the counter thing. He'd been there for hours and wouldn't leave until Mitchell got out of holding.

He stopped being invisible a while ago. The guy behind the counter eyed him as if he were the weirdest person ever. Seryn had been used to that until Mitchell came into his life and made him feel normal.

Seryn fell into the calm persona that had literally been beaten into him through most of his childhood. Every time the cop glanced his way, he smiled.

He sent a text to Daruss at some point, letting him know what was happening. If things went bad, he'd have backup from the Dragon Skulls family. That gave him something to do for about ten minutes. The rest of the time, he slowly drove himself crazy, thinking about Mitchell dying in a holding cell from blood loss. He cursed himself for not giving Mitchell blood. It might have helped him heal faster.

Finally, the lawyer came into the building. She looked tired, but not frustrated. "I had to threaten them with media exposure, and I had to spin the biting thing as Davorion just being a sicko. But Mitchell's free and clear on all charges, probably for the rest of his life. In the meeting, I found out Davorion sang like a canary. Your plan worked."

"It wasn't my plan. My plan was to kill everyone, including Davorion." And he still would kill Davorion.

Gina sighed and handed him a file. "That's why you have me on retainer."

"Yes. It is." Seryn opened it, pretending to read what was inside. Instead, he took the capped syringe and stuck it in his pocket.

He nodded and handed the file back.

"Okay, so that's the rundown. I'm going to see if they'll release Mitchell." Gina walked past the counter and disappeared down a hallway.
