"So, what are you anyway? I know you’re not just a regular person who is rich?"

"Capo."

My eyes widen at him. "Italian Boss." Ace nods his head. "I thought the Italians and Americans weren't in an alliance.”

Ace's jaw clenches and he looks away from me as I pour water in my cup from the jar.

"So, what's got you in such a pissy mood?" I asked before putting the water jar back in the fridge.

Ace clenches his jaw and I look at his hands and see them in fists.

"Don't worry about it," Ace mutters and I raise my eyebrow at him. "You wouldn't understand even if I did tell you."

"Why do you say that?" I raise my eyebrow at him and lean against the counter.

"Because you’re as brain dead as that girl from the movie Brain on Fire."

I nip my lip a little, getting frustrated with him. "I'm not brain dead."

"If you weren't then you would remember," Ace states coldly.

"Doesn't mean I'm brain dead, asshole." I look to my left and see a knife near me.

I'll show him who is fucking brain dead.

I grab the knife from the counter and throw it towards him.

Ace looks at the knife as it flies past him and hits the wall behind him.

"At least you still know how to throw a knife," Ace comments and I roll my eyes at him.

He's so infuriating.

But I'll humor him.

"How much did I miss these last few weeks?" I lean my hip against the counter.

"You really think it's been weeks since you got captured? You think it's been weeks since you were planning on going to that party with Layna?" Ace raises his eyebrow at me, and he takes a step closer to me.

I shrug my shoulders.

I definitely have doubts because the Americans and Italians can't become this close in just a matter of weeks.

Especially with how my father and Alex are.

There are also some small other things that I have noticed that are different about everyone in my family.

"I don't know," I say softly and look back up to meet Ace's eyes.

His green eyes stare into mine. He is furrowing his eyebrows at me trying to probably figure out what I'm thinking or to intimidate me.

But I swear I can see some kind of sparkle in them, wanting to steal all my words away.

I blink as I hear a baby crying and Ace sighs and hangs his head down.

He is so close to me that I can feel his breath hit the side of my neck sending chills down my back.

Ace then looks up at me and I swear he looks like he is about to cry.
