I roll my eyes. “Stop flirting. I’m serious.”

He nods briskly. “Okay. Next.”

“Yes?”

“It’s a deal. Monday through Friday, you and me.”

I force my eyes away from the way he’s leering at me. I will not let that sexy look on his face distract me.

“Also…” I clear the frog out of my voice. “Juggle your own dates.”

“I’m not dating anyone, so okay.”

“You might want to check your calendar,” I say with an eye roll. “And let me be clear, juggling your dates includes breaking your dates.”

He sets his jaw. “Done. What else?”

“You drop off and pick up your own dry cleaning. I shouldn’t know that you dry-clean your boxers.” I shake my head swiftly. “Weird.”

“It’s not weird, Delilah. I like the way they feel after being dry-cleaned, and so does Gunther.”

My finger shoots up because he just reminded me of something I forgot to put on my list. “Also, naming your penis. I don’t want to know the name of your best buddy.”

A mischievous gaze sits in Orion’s eyes. “No Gunther—okay.”

Release me…

My breaths are slow and hard as Orion’s eyes hold me captive. My head is light as I experience a weird shadow effect of feeling his body against mine while his tongue strokes mine. The kiss is sensual, soft, and deep, and the memory so visceral.

“What are you thinking about, Delilah?” he asks.

I blink out of my daze to notice him smirking. “Nothing.” I said that too fast and my voice was too high. My body is sizzling.Did that really happen? That couldn’t have really happened…did it?

Orion grunts thoughtfully. “Anything else?”

My neck feels stiff as I nod while still trying to force that last memory from haunting me. It wants to come back but I won’t let it. “It’s time you do your own work.”

He squishes his face as he shakes his head. “You see, that’s going to be my biggest ask of you. I’ll need you to handle the reports while I perfect my AI software. The reports are bullshit, we both know it.”

I yank my head back in surprise. Is that what he’s been thinking about the work we do? “No, they’re not,” I say, shaking my head adamantly. “Your family needs to know the financial numbers to control spending, Orion. How can you not understand that?”

“They have departments full of people to do those reports, Delilah. They’re fucking with me and in turn fucking with you.”

“No,” I cry.

“Yes.”

“But I work so hard to extrapolate data for the reports. Those numbers are not easy to come by.”

Orion slides two fingers across his kissable bottom lip as he ponders something. “Listen, I’ll assist you with the reports from now on.”

“Really?” I’m shocked that he offered. I always knew he felt compiling data was beneath him, and he just proved I was right. It’s also not like Orion to engage in any task that he feels is beneath him, at least that’s what I thought. I don’t know anymore, maybe I haven’t known very much about him at all.

“Okay,” I squeeze out past my tight throat. “Thank you.”

He winks at me. “You’re welcome. And if I’m anything less than the best boss in the world, then by all means, call me out on my shit.” He tilts his chin down and narrows an eye. “Deal?”

I nod tightly. “We have a deal.”
