Tilly
Noah’s note said that he’d see me at the bar. But when I get there, he’s nowhere to be found.
“Oh, hey there, sugarlips.” Elijah smiles when he sees me. “Ready for another night full of asses dancing in your face?”
I laugh. “It's not that bad when the girls are on the bar,” I say.
“You're right. It's worse when theyworkthe bar. I hate to admit it, but Noah was right. We should hire based on bar skills andteachdance. Not the other way around.”
“Well, he does know his business. Speaking of the boss daddy. Is he here yet?” I get a secret thrill knowing Noah really is my daddy now.
“Not yet. Must be running an errand or something. You need him for anything important?”I need him for everything.
I feel the heat in my cheeks as I try to remain coy. “Nothing immediate. But I did want to talk to you.”
“Of course.” He flashes his perfect smile as he stops what he’s doing and turns his attention my way.
“I need the tip money,” I say, taking a deep breath. “And… I also need you to cancel the, um, auction.”
He lifts his brow. “Cashing out? Should I be worried here?”
I bite my lip to fight my grin. “No. I just need to pay to get the water back on at home. And as for the auction, well, I found someone I really like and…”
His eyes go wide as he leans forward. “Do tell…”
The grin takes over, and now I'm blushing hard. “It’s new.”
“Wait, wait, wait,” he says. “Let me guess. Is it someone I know? Oh! That guy who tipped big last week?”
I frown. “Who?”
“Oh! It's that blond guy who wanted to rock your world after he'd spilled a beer all over his shirt.”
I scrunch my nose. “What? Ew!”
Elijah laughs and rests his elbows on the bar. “I'm joking. It's Noah.”
Now my mouth falls open. “How did you know?”
“Oh, sweetheart, please. I see all. There isn't a thing going on in this place I don't pay attention to.Plus,he went mental at me over that auction thing and made me cancel it. That kinda clued me in to the fact he wants your V-card.” He waggles his brows and singsongs the last part.
“He did?”
Elijah nods as his grin spreads from ear to ear. “He overheard us talking and went all growly alpha on me. Made me delete it then and there. To be honest, it was so hot I almost jizzed myself. But it was also very, very sad because I realized then that my boss daddy would never bemyboss daddy. He wanted to beyourboss daddy.” He sighs dramatically. “You heteros and your straightness ruined my fantasy, so the least you can do is spill the beans. How was he?”
“He,” I start, biting my lip as I try to think of a word to capture what he is to me without going into details. It’s not just because we haven’t done more than kiss yet, it’s because what I have with Noah is special. All my life I’ve had to give away everything that was important to me, time and time again. This time, I won’t do it. “He’s wonderful,” is what I go with in the end.
Elijah blows a raspberry. “That’s all you’re giving me? Ugh. I’m gonna die here.”
I’m laughing when Noah walks in through the back, meeting my eyes, indicating I follow him into the office. “Evening, ladies.”
“Evening, boss daddy,” we chorus before Elijah pouts dramatically.
“God, even that’s not fun anymore. Go,” he says, rolling his eyes and waving me off. “Go and see what your daddy wants.”
I grin before I wrap my arms around Elijah's neck and hug him briefly. “You’re a great friend, Eli.”
“Don’t I know it,” he teases as we release each other. “And I’m happy for you, sweetheart. Both of you. I really am.”
