Cole grins as he closes my door and jogs around to his side.We drive to the market and rush inside, making a beeline for the holiday section.Cole pushes the cart, and I grab a few things for the booth before looking at him.
“What do you want?”I ask.
He shrugs.“Whatever you think will look best. You’ve seen my place. How would you decorate it?”
“The living room?”I ask, scanning the aisle.
“No, the whole place.”
I get excited as I look at everything, but I don’t want him to spend a fortune, so I only select a few pieces.
“Go crazy, Princess. We both know you want to.”
“It will be so expensive.”
He snorts.“I can afford it.Come on.Let’s do this right.”
I bite my lip, then grin.“Okay, you asked for it.”
I turn and grab stuff, tossing it into the cart.We move faster when the PA system announces the store is closing.
“We need a tree, too,” Cole says as he adds items to the cart.
“A fake one or real?”
“Real.Go pick one out.”
Jogging outside, I scan the few remaining trees.I grab the tag from the best one and run back inside.
“And this,” Cole says, passing the attendant the tag.
He pays, and we return to the truck to load everything up.
“We should spend Christmas together,” Cole says as we pull out of the parking lot.
My eyes widen.“What?”
“Yeah.What do you say?”
I open my mouth, unsure how to reply. If he’s making these kinds of plans with me, it must mean he’s serious about me, about us.
“Okay.”
Cole beams at me like I just made his whole year.“Good.”
We drive to his ranch and haul everything inside.Cole carries the tree in, and we set it in the stand.
“Looks great in here already,” I say as I smile at the tree.
“Do you want to work on the booth decorations first or the house?”
“House.”
We get to work, spending the next two hours stringing lights on the tree, hanging ornaments and garland, and placing decorations on the end table and the fireplace mantel.
By the time we’re done, I’m getting tired.
“I can string the lights,” Cole says, nodding to the arbor for the booth.
