“You’re calling himmy mannow?” Black Widow wanted to know. “You’re over Mozart?”
“I’ve been over Mozart.” I tsked. “And besides, Jesse is—just know I have a good feeling about him.”
“I’m happy for you, sis.” Black Widow told me. “When you get back home, Tex will have a present waiting for you.”
I arched a brow. “What are you up to?”
“Oh, nothing.” She giggled. “Just know, I love you very much. I gatta go.”
“Widow.”
“Love you—byeeee!”
Before I could call out again, all I heard was dial tone. I groaned and shoved the phone into the pocket of my jeans.
“Jesse?”
I wandered into the suite to find him staring down at the water with his phone to his ear. He was speaking business with someone. To let him know I was finished, I pressed a palm to his back and kissed his neck.
Jesse quickly finished his call then turned to draw me into him.
“Ready to go?” He nuzzled the side of my neck up to my ear and nipped at the lobe.
“Mhmm.” I moaned. “But if you keep using your mouth on me like that, we’ll never leave this suite.”
“That would mean we’d both starve to death.”
Jesse chuckled. “That’s a painful end, my heart. Give me a kiss and then run like hell.”
I giggled. “Sir—” I kissed him deeply. “Yes sir.”
Another kiss…
Chapter 16
Frost
We were home—settled into a beach house Jesse and I purchased together after he sold his penthouse. He’d made that decision because he claimed we couldn’t raise children in a condo. Each time he brought up kids, my heart did a happy little flip, and I couldn’t hide the fact I loved that idea.
It’d been a month since we arrived back state side. Lizard and I were in the process of setting up our mechanic shop. Jesse had gone back to working, designing and inking the rich and famous and Paul had taken more time away from the hospital.
The more I thought about it, the more I figured he won’t ever be going back. But Jesse and I couldn’t make that decision for him.
I shifted on the bed and reached over. For the first time since we’d gotten back, I’d woken up to find Jesse’s side of the bed empty.
I knew why.
Since arriving, I’d insisted on going in to see Striker. Today was that day and Jesse hadn’t been impressed with my decision. He’d promised to support me and only agreed to my plan if he could go with.
That had led to an argument. He’d left the house and hadn’t come back for hours. When he finally returned, Jesse pulled me not his chest.
Just like that, the fight was over.
I knew what was happening.
He’d seen me fight with Striker and it had killed him not being able to step in. I’d been trying since it happened to tell him Black Widow and Kandi had given him the right advice and that he’d done the right thing.
That rumble with Striker was something I had to do on my own. He’d accepted it but still didn’t like it.
