“Dude, I can’t ignore the massive love-bite on your neck.” She pointed. “The only way you could have gotten that is if you and Lady Frost are doing the nasty.”
“I—” I shook my head. “Doing the nasty? What are you, six?”
“You know what I mean don’t change the subject.”
I sighed and grabbed a fork. “I like her, okay? But we both know Frost doesn’t want to settle down with anyone.”
Black Widow sighed.
“I know.” I exhaled loudly. “Right now, I’m focusing on getting her through all of this then focus on what comes next.”
She nodded.
By the time Frost joined us, we’d changed the conversation to the mission at hand. Frost was excited which caused me to quirk my brow as I shoved a prawn from my buzara into my mouth.
“What’s eating you?” I asked.
“Don’t you mean who?” Black Widow muttered.
I glared at her.
Frost didn’t seem to have heard the comment for her phone made a sound. Silently, she checked it and frowned. She moved across the space, slipped to her knees and opened the laptop. She tapped around at the keys then motioned for us to join her. I didn’t move but Black Widow went down to sit beside her.
“Who’s that?” Black Widow asked.
I leaned closer. “My brother.”
It was good to see him moving around but he didn’t look so good. It was almost as if they’d worked him over—black eyes, swollen lips—my brother looked ill.
My heart shattered in a million little pieces and I wanted to kill who did that to him.
“Where’s that?” Widow wanted to know.
“Tex found the footage.” Frost told us around chewing a shrimp I’d extended to her. “Jesse, remember Lover’s Folly?”
I nodded and extended her more food from my plate.
She accepted.
“This was taken out front.” Frost spoke. “Tex sent Lizard ahead, Tink is on her way as well. We need to get a move on.”
“Another mouthful,” I told her.
Frost groaned but did as I suggested.
Black Widow was smirking.
We dropped everything and geared up. I was shocked to see that back Black Widow came in with her guns, bullets and a few other things that seemed as if we were about to walk into a war.
I stood back and watched these women checked their weapons as if it was second nature then strapped on holsters and shoved the guns into them.
Frost quickly gave me a lesson on how to handle the Beretta then handed it to me.
“Aim at the bad-guys and fire.” I told her. “Got it.”
She frowned at me, opened her mouth to say something but shook her head and pulled on her jacket.
Black Widow grabbed her helmet as she zipped up her leather jacket.
