I broke the kiss, pecked his cheek, then the corner of his mouth, then his lips one last time before stepping back. “Mm. God, you taste good.”

“Probably the chocolate cake you made me share with you.”

I laughed and leaned in for another quick taste. “Mm. I do taste the chocolate, but I think you taste even better.”

He flushed, but definitely looked pleased.

After one last soft kiss, I backed away again. “Moving away from you is no easy feat.”

“Ditto.”

I grinned and winked at him. “I’ll see you in the morning, future boyfriend.”

He snorted and gave me a wave. “See you tomorrow, White Knight.”

With a big smile on my face, I turned away and walked to my car, already dying for it to be eight o’clock in the morning so I could spend more time with him.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Winter

“She’s sooooooooooo cute!” Lyric squealed as he got into Miles’s truck. “Can I pet her?” I could only assume Lyric meant Sola because I wasn’t inside the car yet.

“I hope you’re talking about Sola in there and not, like, a person,” I called out.

Miles snorted, and Lyric stuck their hand out the door to flip me off.

With a laugh, Miles said, “If you hold out your hand, I’m sure she’ll let you. She’s my familiar. We bonded last night.”

“Oh, My-my, that’s amazing. Congratulations.”

“Thank you.”

I got in and was gifted with a huge smile from my man. As soon as I was in my seat, I leaned over, grabbed Miles’s collar to pull him closer, and lightly kissed his tasty lips. He looked surprised but pleased by the move.

Lyric said, “I’m so happy you two finally kissed last night.”

Miles leaned back. “And you know this, how?”

“Win called me as soon as he got home.”

I cringed and shrugged because it wasn’t like I could change it now. “Sorry.”

Miles shook his head. “Don’t be. It’s kind of a relief to know they know. Now I don’t have to feel like I’m hiding a secret or something.”

Reaching over, I took his hand in mine and gave it a kiss. “I absolutely do not want to hide you, sugar butt.”

He snorted.

“Oh my god, Win, you can’t call him that!” Lyric yelled from the back seat. “That’s a horrible pet name.”

I shrugged.

Miles laughed. “I agree with Lyric wholeheartedly.”

With a sigh, I leaned back in my seat. “I don’t know what you two are talking about. I have wonderful naming abilities.”

Miles let out a “Ha!” and put the car in drive.
