“Look.”Logan points up and I smile at the clear sky.

It’s clearer than what I’m used to in L.A. I’d forgotten that about this place.

“Do you remember the constellations?”

“A little. I remember that Scorpius is near Libra.”

“Good. That’s a great start. There’s Scorpius.” He points at the twinkling stars above us, and I try to imagine a giant scorpion by connecting the sparkles of starlight.

He turns me so I have my back to him and he bends his head close to mine then points again.

“Libra is to the right of Scorpius and next is Virgo, then Leo so I know that way takes me back to town.” I follow the smooth line of his arm as he shows me the gorgeous night sky.“The opposite direction would take me to my place or toward the main part of the beach. So to the left of Scorpius you’d see Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Aquarius. The sooner you can identify the constellation and the one next to it, the quicker you know where you are.”

“Wow, that’s so cool. If you thought of it that way, you could go anywhere and follow the sky,” I beam and turn into him, not realizing he’s still so close.Too close.

So close the magnetism of whatever’s been keeping us together all day holds me there and I gaze back at him as he stares at me, his face only inches away from mine.

He holds my gaze with a tenderness lurking in the depths of his blue eyes that I missed, that I craved. That I still crave.

I never stopped, and that’s just the thing that keeps me there, wanting him to do whatever happens next.

He reaches up to my face, runs his fingers along the edge of my jaw, and dips his head to move closer.Closer to my lips.

The craving to feel his lips on mine moves me too.Only God knows how badly I missed his kisses and the taste of him.

His lips brush over mine, and the second the contact is made, that’s it.A spark flickers in my soul, and then it’s like throwing a match on gasoline.

His lips come down harder on mine, capturing my mouth for a hungry kiss, and I let him take me.I kiss him back with the hunger he stirs inside me, hard and searching like I’m trying to get back the missing years.

His tongue sweeps over mine and he slips his hand behind my head to bring me closer like he can’t get enough of me.

The thought that he wants more of me makes me want to give him more, give him everything. All I have left, and all I wanted to give only to him over the last ten years.

I moan into his mouth and melt into him when he tugs the edge of my top and his fingers flutter over the hard nipple of my left breast.

I run my fingers over the granite walls of his chest, touching him too while he fills his palms with my breasts and feels me up.

When the hard steel rod of his cock presses into my belly, I know this kiss can only go one way.

Then something rings out loud, sounding like a fire alarm. It makes us jump apart. I realize quickly it wasn’t an alarm. It’s just the phone. His phone.

It just sounded that way because of the crazy sexual energy amplifying everything aroundme.

He gathers himself and reaches for his phone in his back pocket, frowning when he sees whoever iscalling.

With the weird sexual haze gone, reality seeps in and I can’t believe we just kissed.

“I… um, have to go,” he says even though the phone stopsringing.

“Okay.”

He grabs his shirt and shrugs into it as he walks away, not looking back at me.Likewejust made a mistake.

Did we?

DidI?
