Chapter 10
Brad heldTrina close to his heart enjoying the feel of her in his arms. She moved as he pressed his head against the top of hers. He’d been enjoying the fragrant smell of roses that covered her silky hair, and wanted to getcloser.
He thought she was sleeping from the steady rise and fall of her breasts, but as she looked up at him he realized she was as awake as hewas.
“Are you okay?” he asked with a small smile. “I thought you weresleeping.”
Damn he was tired. This was the second night now that he lost sleep. Tonight, however, was different to last night because he was actually too excited about being with her tosleep.
Concern washed over her pretty face. “I was thinking,” came her softreply.
“Talk to me baby.” They hadn’t done much talking since he cameback.
“What will happen tomorrow?” Her voice soundedfaint.
“Today.” He corrected, trying to sound bright. It was nearly foura.m.
“Today.” She breathed and ran her fingers slowly across his chest. He sat up alarmed when a small tear ran down hercheek.
“Trina.” He took hold of her and helped her to sit too. “Baby, what’s thematter?”
She wiped away more tears. “Will you leave me again? And, what about after the wedding, will that be it? Will this beit?”
“No.” He shook his head. “No, Trina. This won’t be it.” The warmth he felt surging within his heart as he looked at her was unreal. He felt like a new, new person filled with determination. There was no way on this earth that he was going to deny himself of her ever again, and he promised himself that he was going to do everything to make up for all the distress and disappointment he'd ever caused her. Everything. This was a promise to her, because she meant everything tohim.
“No?” Her poor voice soundedweak.
“No baby. I’m sorry I ever leftyou.”
“I was so lost Brad.” She wiped away more tears. “I didn’t know where you went, and what happened to you. I looked everywhere for you for years. And what was worse was my dad knew what happened and never said. He knew he was dying and that he was the only person who could tell me what happened to you, but he never saidanything.”
“I’m sorry.” He took her hand into his and heldit.
“It’s not yourfault.”
“It is.” He admitted sadly. “I should have come back for you. It shouldn’t have taken the biggest coincidence in the world to put ustogether.”
She smiled through her tears on hearing that. “It is a massivecoincidence.”
“Yeah, but we didn’t need the universe to work over time to put us back together. I’m not leaving you ever again Trina.” Everything felt different now because he was different. Tonight there were no more shadows across his heart. "I want you to be mine again Trina. My girl, myeverything."
She searched his eyes. "Brad, in case you didn't notice, I never stopped being your girl." Her sweet smile widened as she brought his hand up to her lips and kissed hisknuckles.
"You sure you don't need some time to think about it? We've just been together for days." He thought he should say that out of respect, even though he knew how he felt. Brad just wanted to be withher.
"Brad Henderson I've been with you all my life. I might not have seen you for some time, but that didn't mean I wasn't with you, or that my heart didn't belong to you." She smiled at him. "We're just …picking up where we leftoff."
"Thank you." The warmth of happiness and belonging flowed through him. He wasn't alone anymore. "That means everything to me. You mean everything tome.”
She gazed at him with deep adoration and threw her arms around him. he held her close to himagain.
“You mean everything to metoo.”
At the feel of her dainty hands around his neck he took her left hand and looked down at her ring finger, thinking of the ring in hissuitcase.
He’d have to tell her about it,soon.
“I love you Trina,” he whispered into her ear andsmiled.
