A rooster outside greeted the morning as Khuldruk stirred in bed. At some point in the night, his little mate had crawled almost completely on top of him and starfished herself across his belly, one arm and one leg wrapped completely around him. She was still sleeping, giving soft snores and leaving a puddle of drool beneath her slightly open mouth. A low chuckle rumbled deep inside of him. He had tuckered her out last night. He couldn't wait to wear her out with his cock every night.
Slowly, she began to stir. Her nose crinkled as she lifted her head and she wiped her mouth as her eyes blinked open. It seemed to take a moment for her to figure out where she was, and his heart squeezed at the thought that he got to keep her. Then, her eyes flew to his as she scrambled off him.
"Oh my god," she said as she brought up the covers, trying to wipe the drool off his large chest. "I'm sorry," she said as she sheepishly hid her eyes from him.
"Whatever for? You needed rest after taking my cock last night. It is a sign of my prowess as a lover," he said, wagging his eyebrows at her.
She swatted his chest. "Didn't you say we needed to get a move on?" she asked.
"Yes, I’d like to leave early this morning so we’ll not be on the road late." He stood and pulled on his pants. "I'm going to go check on the horse and what we need for the journey home. You get ready. I’ll return with some breakfast before we begin our travel."
Callie sat on the bed cross-legged, still naked. "You are making it very hard to leave this room," he said in a low rumble.
"I can see that," she said with a little nod of her head to his cock now straining in his pants.
"Get dressed. I’ll be back shortly."
He turned to leave before his little mate tempted him all the way back into bed. If he hadn't heard word of tension between the clans, he might have stayed another day and just laid in his bed with his mate, drinking her in, but he was anxious to get her home safely.
He made it down through the dining room starting to fill with travelers ready to start their days and made his way back to the stables.
"Khuldruk," called the groom as he pitched a forkful of hay into one of the stalls. Resting the pitchfork against the wall, he made his way over and shook his hand. Caster was a part orc, part elf who stabled the horses. "I heard you were leaving this morning. Your horse was freshly shoed a few days ago and taken care of."
"Thank you," said Khuldruk, offering him a gold piece.
"Are you going to make the journey back to the mountain in one day?" asked Caster.
"I’m hoping too. I heard there is unrest, and I’d like to get back and check in with Thavros."
At that moment, a piercing scream came from the inn. Even though he had never heard that scream before, he would know it anywhere. From the sound of the scream to the panic he felt from the tie with his mate, he knew it was Calli.
Without a word, he turned and bolted into the inn. The dining room seemed to be in chaos as two orcs from the Westlands stood by the doorway leading upstairs. Without asking any questions, Khuldruk pulled the knife from his boot and threw it at one of the orcs by the stairs, hitting him square in the shoulder. Both orcs turned to him, the other pulling a sword as Khuldruk pulled another knife from his other boot and threw it at his hand, forcing him to drop the sword.
He ran past them. He threw open the door, and his heart jumped to his chest. The orc he saw in the dining room last night had Calli by the hair, a knife to her throat.
"Let go of my mate," Khuldruk growled out.
"So, it is true. You found your mate. You think finding a mate will bring back the magic to your mountain? The magic is fading, and you know that. Maybe I should show you by slitting the throat of your mate in front of you."
Khuldruk was done talking. He flung himself toward the orc and managed to knock Calli onto the bed as he knocked the Orc to the floor. Before he knew what was happening, he felt hands pulling him off. He looked back, and the two orcs from downstairs had come up and were pulling him off their leader.
He attempted to fight them off, but before he could free himself, the orc on the ground stood and gave a growly chuckle. Khuldruk saw his fist just before he felt the heavy blow and crunch of his jawbone as the orc's punch landed on his face.

CALLI
Calli watched in horror at the four massive orcs fighting in her room. She had been terrified when the orc was in her room, but she was terrified for another reason now. These orcs looked like they wanted to kill Dru. Her Dru. That was not happening.
The magic she had felt in brief moments with Bridget and Dru was now crackling inside her. She needed to let it out. She had no idea how to wield it, but these orcs would not harm Khuldruk.
"Stop," she said in a voice she didn't recognize.
Instantly, the orcs all stopped and looked at her. The three strange orcs had puzzled looks on their faces, bordering on terror. Dru's look was one of puzzlement as well, but instead of terror, there was awe.
"Leave," she said in the same strange voice.
All four of the orcs turned to leave, but Dru looked back to her with a cocked eyebrow as he made his way to the door.
