"Why are you mentioning my mother?" Devon asked, and I could hear the surprise and confusion in her voice.
"Your mother knows everything and supports me. She agrees that we should get married again. She gave me your phone number, and right now she's not very happy with you because you didn't tell her you were planning your wedding with that idiot. Still, she's calm because I assured her that wedding would never happen. The only wedding that will take place is ours."
Not even in your dreams, you son of a bitch!
"My mother knows about this madness?"
"Not only does she know about it, she's helping me so this gets resolved as soon as possible."
And that's why she had called me and tried to make me believe that big farce. Despicable old woman!
"Helping?"
"You'll find out soon enough. Now go back to Cavaller's house and tell him that, after our meeting at the beach, we started seeing each other and realized we made a mistake by separating because we're still in love. Tell him you love me madly, that you never forgot me, and that we're going to get married for the second time."
"You think he'll believe that nonsense? He already knows about your scheme with the necklace to separate us. If it were as you say, you wouldn't have had to invent that absurdity. Your plans are garbage!"
Garbage just like him!
"No, my queen. I have everything under control and I took that into account too. If you had separated at that moment, wewouldn't have had to come to this, but you preferred to believe that idiot."
"Because you made it all up! You're the idiot, the hypocrite, and the fraud!" Devon shouted, with courage, and I couldn't help but feel immensely proud of the way she confronted him and handled the situation.
"You're going to tell him that you made all that up so you wouldn't have to tell him the truth and could separate without so much drama. You're smart and you can figure out how to make him believe you. You know, either you succeed or you face the consequences."
You're the one who's going to face them!
"I can do what you order even if that makes me the most unhappy woman and makes me hate you for the rest of my life, but at some point they'll discover you, I assure you."
“Aaah, and now that you mention it, it goes without saying that you must also convince those nosy friends of yours about this,” he warned.
“They won’t believe a single word because they know I despise you.”
“That’s precisely why we’re leaving the country. Everything is already arranged. We’re getting married as soon as possible and then we’ll travel to the U.S. because I’m going to work for a company there.”
“You’re completely insane if you think I’m going to leave the country!”
I couldn’t believe everything that bastard had planned, but I was just a few blocks away and I was going to make sure his entire plan fell apart.
“My queen, stop resisting and stop shouting because you’re giving me a headache. You have no choice but to do what I say.Don’t worry about your job because it’s garbage anyway, I always told you that job wasn’t for a girl like you. In the U.S. we’ll find something better or you’ll just dedicate yourself to… me. You know I have enough money for both of us.”
“Are you talking about the money you stole from me when we got divorced?”
Whaaaat? On top of everything, that scumbag had robbed her? I wasn’t aware of this issue, but it didn’t surprise me that that leech had kept Devon’s money. At that moment I arrived at the parking lot. I immediately spotted Xavier waiting for me. I parked next to his car and got out as quickly as I could. I signaled for him to follow me and in a second he was by my side, but I needed to find Devon’s car. As we walked toward the place where I had once seen her park, I summarized everything that was happening, and I could see fury darkening his face.
When I saw it, I started running toward it with Xavier right on my heels.
“Xavier, take care of Devon and make sure she’s okay. If she’s hurt, take her to the clinic immediately to get her checked out.”
“I’ll handle it. Give that son of a bitch what he deserves!”
I opened the passenger door and, in a matter of seconds, I had grabbed him by the neck and dragged him out of the car. I left him lying on the ground and lunged at him.
“I’m going to kill you, you son of a bitch. This is for touching my woman,” I stated, giving him a punch to the face, “this is for threatening to harm my daughter,” I said, giving him another punch, and I continued like that, throwing blow after blow while he defended himself and also tried to hit me.
I was so blinded by rage that my heart was beating uncontrollably, I saw everything blurry and delivered the blowsautomatically and uncontrollably. The only thing I could make out was my target, whom I kept pummeling. I realized he was shouting something at me, but I couldn’t hear. In my head, all I could hear was everything I had heard him say to Devon.
Suddenly I felt someone trying to separate me from that guy. I turned my face and saw Xavier.
