“Had you seen each other again? I mean, after the divorce.”
“Never. We hadn’t seen or spoken to each other. This was just a coincidence.”
I looked toward where the guy had been, but there was no trace of him. I searched for him with my eyes, but he wasn’t anywhere to be seen, it was as if he had disappeared. I don’t know why, but I had the feeling that this wouldn’t be the last time we would encounter him. It was an uncomfortable sensation, like a thorn stuck in my side causing a discomfort or premonition that I didn’t like.
Chapter 20
“The day you don’t burn with love, many will die of cold.”
—François Mauriac
Devon
Isaw in his eyes the happiness my answer provoked, and it made my heart beat frantically. I could feel his joy; he was ecstatic, and I couldn’t feel happier. I loved this man in an inexplicable way. He was the unexpected opportunity to be happy, he was the one who had illuminated my life. William loved me, cared for me, and didn’t judge me. I wasn’t imagining a happy life anymore; I was living it.
“You make me the happiest man in the world,” he said, verbalizing what I could see in his face and his wonderful smile.
“That’s because I’m the happiest woman in the world,” I affirmed, so he would have no doubt that I felt the same way.
“Tomorrow we’ll start with the preparations and tell Aurora,” he proposed, with the joy of a child with a new toy, but that comment erased my smile.
Was he talking about preparations because he wanted a big wedding? I didn’t plan on going through that again. The happiness of this moment wasn’t about the magnitude and splendor of the celebration.
“Preparations?”
“I mean going to register at the Civil Registry, but I see that topic didn’t make you very happy. Don’t you want a bigwedding?” he asked, looking at me as if he didn’t understand my fear.
“No. I just want to be with you, with Aurora, and with our loved ones. I’m not interested in having a big wedding, just celebrating our love with the people we love,” I clarified.
I noticed he was watching me with confusion, and I imagined he was trying to understand my refusal. I supposed he was convinced that I dreamed of a big wedding, but nothing could be further from the truth.
“Then that’s how it will be, and you can’t imagine how happy that makes me,” he affirmed, as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
“Me too, for a minute I thought you wanted a big wedding.”
“I just want to be with you and Aurora, the two women I love, nothing more.”
“Perfect, that’s how it will be,” I said, happy to be in agreement with him, and I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.
“How shall we celebrate? Sex or champagne?” he invited, giving me a playful wink.
I wasn’t going to be timid. I looked at him and smiled, trying to show him with that smile what I desired.
“Sex,” I answered, and kissed him again.
“I couldn’t agree more with you, Dr. Dulcet.”
Our mouths sought each other out, it was a long, passionate, intense, desperate kiss. I would never tire of his kisses, of his lips against mine. We made magic. He made me rest my back on the mattress, but to my surprise, he turned me over and I ended up with my chest on the mattress and my backside completely exposed to his intense gaze. His fingers traced my spine from myneck to the end of my back with a slow and delicious gentleness, while a growl emerged from his throat. The skin he touched tingled, and my heart began to pump frantically. His caresses stopped and lingered on my buttocks.
“Raise your hips, my love,” he asked, in wonder, but being so exposed made shyness take over me.
I suppose William noticed my hesitation because with great delicacy he took me by the hips and helped me rest my knees to be onall fours. His fingers explored my sex and, with urgency, he penetrated me from behind. We both let out a loud moan and, taking me by the hips, he began to thrust.
“God, my love,you’re amazing.”
“William, aaah,” I screamed, when the orgasm hit me hard and my body shattered, convulsing uncontrollably.
A second later William reached his climax, panting heavily and collapsing onto my back, trying not to fall with force. I could feel his heartbeat against my back, and I swear it was beating at the same rhythm as mine.
