Chapter Eight
Sorin scowled, stalking his way through the Stronghold. This was the most he’d been in this building in years.
“The men are down in the sparring room,” Linkin informed him, walking by his side.
The hunters had boldly made their move in sending men to follow him. He hoped they appreciated the gift he’d sent them.
If the humans thought they would run the vampires out of Vegas, they would be sadly mistaken.
The vampire force was larger than they would ever know.
“I want to know everything about their leader. I want to know how many of them are here—”
“Devin should be sending you the information right now.”
Sorin’s phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and swiped the glass screen. Just as Linkin had said, Devin had sent him the information he’d just asked for.
That was why he kept them close. They anticipated what he would need.
“Perfect.” He paused and pulled up the information she’d sent. A picture of a human male with a bald head and hard eyes with an air of military to him, stared back at Sorin.
Clay Weber.
Sorin now had the face of the man he would kill.
They walked toward the sparring room. Linkin made sure they had extreme vampire warriors to protect the clan. He was in charge of their defense against the lycans and human enemies.
“Can I just say that it’s about time you stepped up.”
Sorin paused and glared at his trusted friend. Linkin didn’t back down from his stare.
“Now is not the time,” Sorin warned, his gums burning as his fangs descended.
“You’ve been gone too long. Hopefully now, you have a reason to stay.”
An image of Athena flashed before his eyes.
The hunger pain hit him again. He grimaced and looked away from Linkin.
“Yeah. Maybe I do,” he murmured.
“The human?”
Sorin nodded, and his friend gripped his shoulder. Surprise filled him once Linkin nodded.
“All the more reason for you to lead our clan and defeat the hunters so you can secure the future generation.”
Linkin brushed past him and walked down the hall. Sorin stared off after him and knew his friend was right.
As much as he tried to avoid this responsibility, what Linkin had said resonated in him.
Secure the future generation.
His children.
With Athena.
Once she took his blood and became immortal, she would be able to carry his seed.
