The wolves took off down the path the truck had traveled. Gavin’s gaze followed them. He watched until they were no longer in sight.
“What about her parents?” Spencer asked quietly.
It was a thought that Gavin had tried to suppress.
There was no way he could tell the Jacksons that their daughter had been forced away.
“Don’t let that other alpha take my baby girl away.”Irvin’s voice sounded through Gavin’s mind. He had given his word as alpha that she would be safe.
“I refuse to go to them and tell them that Damara’s gone again.” He turned to Spencer with a shake of his head. He didn’t want to see the pain in their eyes again. “It would break their hearts.”
“What about you? What if we’re too late?” Spencer focused his gaze on Gavin.
His best friend, his beta, knew him well. He didn’t need to answer. Spencer had been there the first time when they had thought they’d lost Damara forever.
Gavin didn’t want to think of the unimaginable. He didn’t want to think that his Damara would be mated by force. It was one thing to mate out of convenience—that was acceptable by many wolves who were never blessed to find their fated mates.
But a forced mating?
That would break her soul.
“We’re going to get her back, and the minute I get my hands on her, she’ll be mine.”
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go get your mate.” Spencer turned and shifted.
Gavin gave his body over to his demanding beast and allowed it to come to the forefront. His animal burst through. His shift was fast.
He met the eyes of his beta and knew Spencer would be right by his side through this.
Gavin threw his head back and released his powerful alpha howl.
Damara, I’m coming for you.
