CHAPTERFIFTEEN
WYATT
October 31
Margo disappeared into a sea of black.I tried not to look for him.But I wanted to see what he was like. And some sick part of me wanted to see who he would choose. The woman he’d chosen to marry had golden-brown hair, soft features, and was much shorter than him.I was blonde, my features too sharp, and some thought too tall.My bottom lip too full and my tits too big.The only thing Julian’s wife and I had in common was our eye color.
That wasn’t uncommon, for men’s whores or mistresses to look nothing like their wives.I shouldn’t have cared, but I did.I scanned the crowd, and then I saw him.Even with his face painted like a skull, I recognized him.I recognized the way he moved. The way his suit fit him perfectly.I couldn’t tear my eyes from him.
He moved through the room as if he was looking for something.Or someone. His eyes found mine, and I turned away quickly, cursing.“Can I have another, please?”I wanted to watch him, see what he was like. But I didn’t want him to see me here like this. One of Maverick’s girls.Which was stupid because he knew what I was.
I felt him come up behind me.My breath caught as he pressed me into the bar.
“I know you,” he whispered into my ear.
“Are you sure?”My hands shook as I reached for my drink.
“Yes.”He took the drink from my hand and swallowed it down.“I know when I kiss this spot right here…” He pressed his lips to the curve of my jaw.My breath hitched.“You do that.I know the curve of your hips and the weight of your breasts.”He traced a knuckle down my back, his breath warm on the nape of my neck.He pressed closer, the bar cutting into my hip.I watched Julian’s reflection in the mirror behind the bar.“I would know you if I was blind.”
“And I’d know you.”I turned my head, and my lips brushed against his jaw.“I know you by the cut of your jaw.By the color of your eyes.”His blue-green eyes looked so bright against the dark paint.“By the sound of your breath in my ear.”The sound I loved the most.
“There are so many things I want to do to you.”There was an edge to his voice, and the sharp scent of whiskey burned my nose.
“Tell me.”God, he was stunning. The contrast of the black and white paint made his features look sharper, dangerous.Someone had taken a lot of time to shade and draw the bones on his face, neck, and hands. Each dark line and brush of white paint had been added to accentuate the perfection of his face.
“I want to tie you up.”His voice was low in my ear.“Make you beg me to fuck you.”
I forgot there was an art to this.To foreplay. It had been so long since I had done this little dance.Felt the promise of the words he spoke deep within me.I had never wanted to fuck someone as bad as I wanted to fuck Julian.
His hand moved from my hip to my neck.He leaned forward, watching us both in the mirror. This was not the same Julian I met two weeks ago.“How much for the night?”
“It’s a holiday.”
“Tell me the price.”His tongue traced the shell of my ear.I closed my eyes, pressing back against him, not caring who saw us.“Cass.”
“I don’t work holidays,” I whispered, running my nose along his jaw.
Julian moaned. His hand tightened slightly around my neck, making my blood ignite.“So you’ll leave me like this.”He took my hand and pressed it against his cock.
I would probably regret this in the morning. But that was tomorrow’s problem.“No.Let’s not be us tonight.Let’s be someone else. Two strangers who met at a bar.”My words tumbled out of my mouth, my heart racing with what I was about to do.I turned to face him, my eyes searching his face for any sign that this was too much for him.“No money. No time.Just us.”
Julian leaned in closer; his mouth brushed against my ear.“I would do anything for you.Be anyone.”He straightened, and his eyes traced down my body.“I have a room at the Towers.”
I glanced around the room.“You leave first.I’ll follow.”I followed him, not looking at anyone. Not caring if Maverick or Margo saw me leave.
Julian and I walked on either side of the hallway. As we entered the crowded lobby of the Starlight Sands, he pulled me closer.“My car is out front.”
“Good.”I clung to him, almost in tears with the need I felt for this man.Outside, under the bright blue and white lights of the Starlight Sands, Julian Silver opened the door for a dark town car, letting me in before he slid in.
We both sat in the back of the car, not saying anything. The anticipation was making my desire for him burn bright. The car barely stopped before Julian was out and reaching for me.The bright lights of the casino reflected down on the car.People dressed in brightly colored costumes flooded the covered area.It felt like a Bond movie.
We made it into the room.He backed me against the wall, one hand around my throat, the other loosening the dark tie around his neck.My breath came fast.I knew I should stop this. There were so many things that could go wrong. So many things that had gone wrong. No one knew where I was or who I was with.Just like before.
He stepped away, the dark silk pulled taut between his hands.“Put your wrists together.”
I licked my lips, looking down at my hands that were clasped in front of me.I could do this.I wasn’t that stupid girl from all those years ago.And Julian wasn’t the violent type.He would have shown that already.
“Cass,” Julian whispered, cupping the back of my head, pulling me closer to him.“I won’t hurt you, I promise, but if?—”
