“No, because we saved you from the clan of bears who were approaching your camper when we arrived. They would not have been as kind as us.”

“I’m sorry. I had no idea.”

I grabbed Sam’s hand and followed the naked man through the woods, down a path that took us deeper and deeper into darkness. I couldn’t be sure he was telling the truth about the bears, but I could be sure of two things. They had more than ample opportunity to eat or rape me, and they did neither. The other thing was that I was heading toward a house of hot naked men, nothing like the man I’d spent the last three years with. That should have been reason enough to follow him.

But then I remembered somehow the four had changed from animal to man, which meant at some point they would return to being an animal. Then what? Not everything in life was as it seemed.

The trees began to thin, and as they did, a large beautiful cabin came into view. The front of the house faced the eastern sky and the rising sun. Large windows allowed a view into the inside, where I could see two of the men relaxing in the living room. The men had dressed.

 “This is yours?”

“It is. And it’s time for you to join us.”

We entered the house and the most immaculate decorating I’d ever seen.

“The four of you did this?”

Mani took me by the hand and led me to the living room, offering me a seat on the couch. “I guess that means you like the place?”

“Of course. I’m just not used to a man being able to decorate a home like this. You’re married.”

“Nope,” Rogue said and sat next to me. Though he wore a shirt, all the buttons were undone, showing me his abs and most of his chest. “And no, we aren’t sleeping with each other. We just know what we wanted the place to look like. Nothing wrong with a straight guy having an eye for fashion.”

I turned to see Flux leaving the kitchen, a plate in one hand a cup of hot coffee in the other. He set both on the table in front of me. “A small amount of cream and a teaspoon of sugar.” He pointed at the omelet. “Southwestern omelet. One of my specialties. I really should go into business for myself.”

“Oh shit, here we go.” Rogue left my side and went to the kitchen. “Don’t get him started. She’ll never want to stay if you don’t shut up.”

“He doesn’t appreciate good food. Like’s most of his rare.”

I cringed, and the three men glanced at each other.

“Is her shower ready?” Sam asked.

Mani stood and offered his hand. “Shower and towels are ready. Please follow me.”

I placed my hand in Mani’s and followed him down the hall, where we then entered a large bedroom, the king-size bed outfitted with red and black bedding. The entire place had a woman’s touch, though there was no sign of a woman ever being present.

We stopped in the bathroom at the steamy doors surrounding the shower.

“Why’re you all treating me like this?” I asked. “I’ve done nothing to deserve it.”

 “Mani,” Sam said.

“Of course.” Mani left Sam and me alone.

Sam had put on shorts and a tank. None of the four were bodybuilder big, but all four were lean and god-like. None had a single blemish.

“You’ll be treated with ultimate kindness while you’re here.”

“What happens after I help you?”

Sam opened the shower door and then hung a towel on the hook next to the shower. “Our hope is that you will stay and let us take care of you.”

“Stay with the four of you? Four men and one woman?”

“Precisely. But like I said. You have nothing to fear.” He held out his hands. “We’ll wash your clothes while you shower. There’s a robe in the bathroom closet that just happens to be your size.” He smiled and stood there, expecting me to change in front of him.
