“We’re here now, little man,” Kean says, taking covers off the plates.

Kean has a full English and I have toast, bacon and hash brown. He puts the plate in front of me and hands me some cutlery.

“Thanks, handsome. I wish River was with us this morning.” It would make our morning perfect if he was. I’m about to suggest it when there is a knock at the door.

Kean gets up and opens it to see Emily there holding River.

“I thought you would like time with just the four of you,” she says, handing an awake River over to him.

“Perfect, thanks, Mum. I was just about to phone you and ask for him.”

She laughs. “Great minds, enjoy your breakfast.”

She walks away, and Kean closes the door, walking back to the bed and putting River in the middle.

I stroke his little hand. “Morning, Baba,” I smile at Kean. “Now this is perfect.”

“It really is,” Kean replies, picking up his plate.

I make my bacon and hash browns into a toast sandwich. I cut a thin slice and hand it to Lyric. “Here you go, little man.”

Lyric takes it and smiles at me. “Fank oou,” he takes a bite and then holds it out to River. “Ver nack.”

“No, little man. River is too small to eat this kind of food,” Kean tells him. “You eat it.”

I finish my sandwich and wipe my hands, then pick River up. I drop a kiss on his head as Lyric strokes his brother’s hand. I feel an overabundance of love for Kean and our boys. I wonder if it’s too late to incorporate the baby naming and welcome to the family for the boys.

I look at Kean, who is giving me a gentle smile as he collects up our plates and puts them back on the tray. “Shall I message the others about adding the baby naming and welcome to the family?”

I nod. “Yeah, I was literally thinking we should do that.”

Lyric starts jabbering away to River, as Kean picks up his phone and sends the message. “Done,” he says, moving over to sit next to me.

Lyric crawls off my lap and sits on Kean’s.

“We have a fun day today,” Kean tells him.

Lyric nods. “Warry.”

“Close. Tus and I are getting married, River will be having a baby naming and you, a welcome to the family.”

“But first we all need to have a bath or shower and get dressed,” I say, picking up my coffee. “Well, when I say first, I mean after my coffee.”

Kean laughs. “You drink your coffee and I’ll give our Lyric a bath,” Kean points a finger at Lyric. “No trying to drown me.”

Lyric just laughs at him.

CHAPTER 35

Ten forty-five sees the four of us, ready and waiting by the front door. Kean and I decided on light grey suits, and Lyric is wearing the same. I did think he could wear his funeral suit, but that felt wrong, so I magicked this one up. The same for River, he has light grey trousers, a white top and a light grey waistcoat. They both look cute, and lots of pictures have been taken.

Ernest comes bustling down the hall carrying red rose buttonholes. He attaches them to our jackets, puts a little one in Lyric’s top pocket. “We didn’t get one for River. I can do a single one like Lyric’s, if you want?”

“That’s okay, I think River is good without one,” Kean says.

I look Ernest over, he’s in a black suit with a rainbow coloured waistcoat and rainbow coloured tie. “Looking smart there, Ernest.”

He grins. “Thanks. Just so you know, all the family are dressed like this.”
