Mandy wrinkles up her nose. “The lake reeked of rotting fish and the campgrounds were filthy. Apparently, the workers have been on strike. My friends bailed so we didn’t want to stay either.”
“Gross,” Lila agrees.
Amos flops onto the couch beside his sister and grabs her book. “We thought we’d come and hang out with you tonight. What are you reading?”
She snatches it back from him. “None of your business. Don’t pretend you can read.”
“We came by about an hour ago to see if you both wanted to have dinner, but no one was home.”
Lila doesn’t miss a beat before responding. “Holly had us over to smoke one.”
Well, that would explain our absence and why the vehicles were still here. Good job, Lila.
Mandy reads the title on her book. “Oh, I started that series! I don’t have book two yet. Is it good?”
Lila nods with excitement. “So good. So much hotter than book one. I have it if you’d like to borrow it.”
“I’d love that, thank you.” She follows Lila to her room.
“Your girl is into kinky sex books,” I point out as they return.
Amos grins at her. “Ooh, I’m excited.”
“You couldn’t handle me mentioning handcuffs,” Lila says, rolling her eyes. “You’d run in terror from the acts in these books.”
“Uh, yeah, because I don’t need to hear anything about my sister’s sex life.” He throws a nearby pillow at her. “Luckily, it looks like you don’t have one.”
Lila does a much better job keeping a straight face while I have to turn away. What would he think if he knew I’d fucked her into oblivion just last night? I’m such an asshole.
Instead of engaging with Amos, she turns to Mandy. “Guys always say they’re kinky until you go near their ass.”
“That’s so true. Can’t even handle a little finger most of the time.”
“Hey, some things are sacred,” Amos argues, pulling Mandy down on his lap. “No one touches my brown crown.”
“Eww, okay, change of subject,” Lila says. We spend the rest of the evening hanging out with them. Mandy and Lila seem to hit it off, discussing books and book boyfriends.
Amos and I end up in the kitchen making drinks and he keeps looking into the living room at Mandy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so into a woman. He usually goes through them pretty fast. “You’re serious about her, aren’t you?” I ask, keeping my voice low.
He nods, sliding a glass over to me. “She’s great. Never rides my ass about anything. Just wants to have fun and hang out. She doesn’t have kids or a crazy ex. No stress, you know?”
That’s not exactly the basis of a great relationship but considering the situation I’m in right now, I can’t judge. “Tell me if Lila is looking,” I caution him, then reach into the top cabinet that she has trouble reaching.
Amos stifles a laugh when I pull out another polka dotted tumbler and pour one of the drinks in it. “Mandy threw the otherone in the trash, but she’ll play along. I told her what you’re doing.”
Amos grabs two of the drinks while I pick up the other two. Lila automatically takes the cup without paying attention while Mandy shows her something on her phone. She gets it about halfway to her mouth before she notices.
“What the—” She leaps to her feet. “I’m going to show you kinky when I shove this up your ass!”
Amos cracks up laughing when I hide behind him. “Get your sister. She’s bullying me again.”
Amos snatches the cup from her hand, trades her for his cup, then takes a long drink.
“It was in the toilet!” Lila shouts. “And multiple trash cans!”
“Ahh,” Amos licks his lips. “Adds flavor.”
“I swear, I threw it away,” Mandy says.
