“No.” Lila’s horrified whisper in my ear almost makes me laugh. “We have to get out of here.”

“How would you suggest we do that?”

“I don’t know,” she hisses. She smacks at my chest. “This is all your fault. You can’t keep your stupid hands off me.”

Is she serious right now? “You stuck your hand down my pants!”

“Shh, they’ll hear us.” She shifts in the small space and her breasts brush over my chest as she turns around to put her back to me.

Mandy lets out a moan. “Oh yes.”

“I don’t think we have to worry about that.” My quiet chuckle pisses her off.

“It’s not funny!”

She is not amused at all by this situation but I can’t help it. We’re going to have to listen to these two go at it.

She steps back and her ass bumps against me. “Oh my god, why are you hard? Is this turning you on?” A low moan from her brother punctuates her sentence.

“No, your bare ass is against me. What do you expect?”

“I’m never going to be able to listen to this song again,” she whispers, covering her ears.

Fortunately, Amos is stingy with the foreplay and the whole thing doesn’t last ten minutes. After another minute or two, Amos asks, “Where do you want to go to dinner?”

“Hmm, let me think about it,” Mandy replies, then excuses herself to go to the bathroom.

Good, they’re going to leave. I’m not sure what we would’ve done if they decided to hang out all night. All we have to do is wait them out for a few more minutes. It looks like we’re in the clear.

Until Amos sneezes.

And Lila replies automatically, “Bless you.” She slaps her hand over her mouth. I can’t see her face in the dark but I’d bet every dollar I have that her eyes are wide as saucers.

“Thanks,” Amos replies absently.

“What?” Mandy calls, flushing the toilet. “Did you say something?”

“No, how about The Spaghetti House for dinner?”

“Sounds good to me.”

We listen while he locks the front door and starts his car. I burst out laughing as we stumble out of the closet. Holding it in was almost impossible. “Bless…bless you,” I stammer.

“Shut up.” Lila rushes to put on her clothes. Her gaze meets mine after she pulls her shirt over her head and a smile cracks her lips. “It just came out.”

“We’re so lucky he thought Mandy said it.”

“Well who the hell would assume someone said it from the closet?”

The mood is effectively killed and by the time we’re both dressed, Dusty comes trotting back in. I lean down to pet him. “You were a good boy. You didn’t give us away. Not like your crazy owner blessing people from the closet like a priest.”

Lila snorts, shoving me as she walks by.

“I didn’t need to know Amos was a two pump chump,” I remark as we head for the living room.

“I’m sorry it didn’t last long enough for you.” Lila spins around and points at me. “We will never speak of this again.”

Amos shows back up with Mandy in tow about an hour later. Lila looks up from the couch where she’s reading one of her new romance books. “Hey, I thought you were roughing it in the wilderness.”
