I’m totally messing with him since I didn’t take any of the onesthat are for Noah. But making him uncomfortable and annoyed is part of my best friend duty.
Fisher
Please, no. Send them to Thor instead.
My eyes bulge out of my head, and my jaw drops.
Magnolia
How do you know that name?
Fisher
Your best friend is my fiancée.
That little snitch.
Magnolia
That was a secret!
Fisher
And it’s safe with me.
Then he sends a cheeky smirking emoji.
Not helping.
Magnolia
If I’d known you two were swapping more than spit, I would’ve bought myself two sets.
Fisher
Thanks for your help. I do appreciate it.
I sigh, unable to stay mad at the guy who’s making Noah the happiest I’ve ever seen her.
Magnolia
Are you sure you don’t have a brother?
Fisher
Sorry.
And that’s when I decide. Landen’s birthday party is at the Twisted Bull, and I’m going take a few shots for courage, dance as if my life depended on it, and get Tripp’s attention once and for all.
Chapter Seven
Tripp
The sun is brutal today, even if the heat isn’t as bad as it has been, but enough to warrant my Resistol hat instead of my preferred ball cap. It usually gets the out-of-state guests excited to see a “real cowboy,” so it’s not a total waste.
In between working at The Lodge in the afternoons and training with Noah in the mornings, Landen and I work on various tasks on the ranch, such as riding horseback around the ranch’s perimeter to check the fences and for anything else out of place. With his birthday party tomorrow night, we need to get most of our shit done today since he’ll be spending his actual birthday on Sunday nursing a hangover.
“Guess who’s comin’ to the Twisted Bull?” Landen flashes a shit-eating smirk, and I can only imagine the response I’m going to get. “The Marrow twins! You can thank me later. Lydia’s already foamin’ at the mouth for a taste of you.”
