“Is it ‘teddy bear’?”Hallie whispered.
Jessica nodded with a shy smile.
“You have to take a shot!”someone shouted.
“Yeah, shot!”everyone took up the cry.“Shot, shot, shot!”
“Okay,” Jessica said with a shrug.Some woman Hallie didn’t even know poured a shot of vodka, and Jessica downed it.
After this, the party devolved into utter anarchy, but Hallie was having too much fun to worry what her group of friends would think of Luke’s friends.
One of the women put a shot of tequila into her cleavage and invited Luke’s friend Connor to drink it.
He hefted the shot glass from between her boobs into his mouth with some expertise.Turning it upside down, he swallowed the whole shot.
“Let’s do another one!”he said right away.
Meanwhile, Hallie’s other friend Britta was still making out with some other guy Luke had invited.Her shirt was halfway unbuttoned, showing her bra, and she looked like she might take this even further while people shouted at them to get a room.
A small group of people were just spinning the bottle for the fun of it and laughing uproariously.
“Let’s go bowling!”Jessica said.She was more than a little tipsy from all the shots she had to do to avoid kissing people.
She grabbed an old tennis ball from one of the boxes that hadn’t been unpacked yet and rolled it towards a wine bottle that stood on the floor.
“I think you might want to use empty bottles,” Luke jumped in.“No need to waste valuable liquor.”
He set the bottles on the carpet so they wouldn’t shatter, and he and Hallie joined the “bowling” game.Hallie hadn’t had this much fun in a long time!Who knew carpet bowling could be so great?Maybe she was just a little bit drunk.
At this point, there was a knock on the door, and Rick stumbled to answer it.
Hallie didn’t know who it could be.She hadn’t invited anyone else.
Suddenly she remembered she had told her grandma about the housewarming party.And Gigi could have spilled the beans to her parents...Hallie opened her mouth to tell Rick not to open the door, but it was too late.
Mama and daddy, with Terry trailing behind them, walked into the apartment and stared open-mouthed at the chaos happening inside.
