“Then I have no interest in being part of a family that doesn't accept me or the person I love,” I state, my voice unwavering as I look my father directly in the eye.

“You have no family to be part of,” Arthur replies, and I catch his face turning red with anger before he turns around to walk out of the room. “Don’t expect a check for your tuition and housing for the last semester. Reid:I'm not sure when that’ll be.

Me:I won’t have you speaking of yourself that way, Reid.

Me:I’m buried in work preparing for an additional course in my workload. After a long day, I wish I could come home to you.

Me:How are you feeling about your last semester?

Reid:Worried. I wish I could come home to you, too.

Me:Why don’t you?

Reid:I can’t right now, Milo.

Me:I know my word might not mean much after Christmas, but I want you to remember I’m here for you, Reid.

Reid:I know.
