Jackson was helping her finalize the details of her nest while I was making sure a bath was ready, dropping in some of her favorite bath bombs we’d found.

This wasn’t exactly like we thought her heat would start… hell, not evenwhenwe thought it would be. Going into heat mid game wasn’t exactly something we could plan and prep for, but our pack handled it fairly well. Hopefully, she thought the same when it was all over.

She was weeks early, but from everything I’d read online, that was normal. Finding a new pack sped up biology. It was nature’s way of ensuring we didn’t walk away from our omega.

The fact that we had already bitten her and didn’t notice sooner had me questioning how much she blocked the bond. It was during a game, which made sense, but I didn’t like the idea of her being vulnerable or hurt and us having no clue. The bond was there for a reason.

“Let’s get you in that bath, sweets,” Jackson urged, leading her away. With our omega occupied, I headed for the kitchen, unloading a few of the supplies we’d had delivered earlier and making sure everything was in place.

I opted for easy foods we could feed her bites of. Complete with a charcuterie board I’d ordered. It had a mix of fruits, vegetables, meats, and cheeses. A good, rounded selection that would keep her energy up.

People liked to talk about how we’d need a beta in our pack. Three alphas would, apparently, be an issue eventually. Right now, I was thanking my lucky stars. We’d be able to keep our omega satisfied, at least one knot always ready for her.

Maybe that’s why our omega was so independent. She had to be to handle three alphas.

We were all a bit different. Jackson was the steady one, and was fairly skilled at keeping us calm. Cy was like sunshine, bringing a lightness we desperately needed. I was the protective alpha, always making sure threats like Henry weren’t getting too close.

If he even tried to show his ugly fucking face around us again, I might have to make an exception. He never should’ve approached her.

I still couldn’t believe it had escalated so quickly… all over petty jealousy. The fact that the other team took him on, still blew my mind. Coach was livid and raising hell with the league, and I had a feeling he was about to cause problems.

Good.

A soft whimper from the nest had me rushing back in, loaded tray in hand. I’d even gotten an electrolyte drink with a straw to make sure she stayed hydrated. When I walked in Dani was doubled over, clutching her stomach.

“Hurts, Alpha,” she gasped, meeting my eyes. Her own glistened with tears. God, I wished. I could take every bit of pain.

Jackson already had his arms around her, but at the moment she seemed to want all three of us here.

“Cy, she needs us!” I called out. He rushed in and dropped to his knees in front of her, looking to me to fix this.

“Are you ready for us to help ease the pain?” I asked, wanting to make sure she was truly ready for us to take control.

She nodded frantically. “Give me your knots. I know you guys will take care of me.” Her eyes were slightly glassy now, but her voice was strong.

I leaned down and kissed her softly. “You know we’ve got you. But first, I need you to try to eat something. If you’re a good omega, then you’ll get all the knots you want.”

Dani didn’t look pleased, and I knew my time was limited, so I grabbed the plate I’d brought in.

“Listen to your alpha, omega,” I said, appealing directly to her omega side this time. “Open up.”

She didn’t protest. Her lips parted obediently. I popped a cheese cube into her mouth, watching happily as she chewed quickly and swallowed. Then she looked up at me with those big, beautiful eyes.

“Good job,” I praised.

“Eat a couple more bites for us,” Jackson urged her. “Then we’ll give you exactly what you need. It’s our job to keep you safe, remember? Can you trust us to do that?”

“Yes, alpha,” she said. There was a sassy little curl to her lips. Our omega was still there, at least in part.

Was she fighting the heat? She’d never been able to rely on anyone in her life quite like she relied on us, and I wanted to make sure we did this the right way. That we didn’t misuse that trust in any way.

I fed her bite after bite, reminding her that she was being so good for us. She looked hesitant, but still obediently opened her mouth and chewed each bite, taking everything we gave her.

When I was finally satisfied, I nodded at Jackson, letting him know it was fine to go ahead. He glanced nervously between us.

“I don’t want to cause problems or get in the way,” Jackson said, looking at us both.

“Give her what she needs and I’ll be happy,” I promised. Nothing like this was going to get between us. We’d been friends and pack for far too long.
