“Go. You should be there.”
“I agree. The only way this ends is to find out everything I need to know. If it’s hours, Nylah, I’ll text.”
She already figured as much. “I just feel safer when you’re here.”
“I know. Listen, my brother is staying.” I glanced at Cameron, and she seemed relieved. “A few of the club members will stay too. Plenty of protection. I shouldn’t be longer than midnight. Just need that cocksucker to talk long enough to get what we need from him and ensure no one else is planning to take his place.”
I wasn’t taking any chances with her safety or my twins.
“I know. Wash the blood off before I see you.” She was only half joking. It was highly probable I’d have stained clothes by the time I finished interrogating the prisoner.
“Tell you what, I’ll shower before I come home. Then I can’t join you in bed and get to work making my woman come.”
“I heard that,” Cameron announced.
“Get my brother to dick you good,” I fired back.
She waved me off. “I think that’s evident by my swollen belly, don’t you?”
I snickered, unable to hide my humor.
Yeah, we both had luck in that department, but it was also our huge cocks and the skill we used with them.
I didn’t say that to Cam, but her lips twitched like she thought about it at the same time I did.
I lowered my head and kissed Nylah, lingering long enough to deepen the kiss so she could feel the promise behind it and all I planned to do to her later. I’d wipe every memory of today from her mind. “I love you, kitten.”
“And I love you.”
Nothing more needed to be said.
Chapter 7 Cameron
“Tell me what happened, Nylah.”
She tucked a stray strand of blonde hair behind her ear and sighed. “I put the boys down for a nap and started picking up the living room. Something made me pause. Almost like I could feel the guy staring before I saw him. Isn’t that weird?”
“Yes, but also no. I’ve felt that feeling before. It’s always a bit creepy.” I shivered, just thinking about what it must have been like to see a stranger on the front porch, just watching, and waiting for you to notice.
“He wore the same skeletal face makeup as Rael. It was so bizarre. Like I wanted to think it was him. For a second, I did. But when I realized it wasn’t Rael, I had to stay calm. If I had screamed, the boys would have come running from their room.”
Jesus. “I’m so sorry, Nylah. That’s scary.”
“For both of us. Who knows if he watched you, too?”
Oh, God. I hadn’t thought of that.
“Now I’m trying not to freak out,” I admitted with a wince.
“Well, we aren’t alone. Rael and Chrome won’t let anything happen to us. They’ll protect us. Those Reapers are out for blood right now.”
“I know, but it’s still terrifying. I can’t help wondering why that guy came to your house. He obviously doesn’t know what the Tonopah GBMC are, or he wouldn’t have dared.”
Nylah shrugged. “Maybe. I’m sure Rael will find out.”
“And Chrome. He’s so overprotective now.” Now that he wasn’t before this happened. With all the shit we went through in Detroit before we moved to Nevada, including the vicious attack I suffered, he was hypervigilant when it came to mysafety. Add to the fact that I was finally pregnant with our first child, and his obsessive tendencies only focused harder.
I didn’t mind. How could I when he always put my needs above his own?
