Gods, he wanted this woman.
He wrapped an arm around her waist, splaying his fingers across her back. He pushed her into his groin, letting out his breath in a hard sigh.
“I want you,” he whispered in her ear. He nipped her earlobe. “I'm sorry the timing is so bad, but can we talk when I get back?”
He moved down her neck and nipped her on the shoulder. She nodded and her scent deepened, arousal scenting the air.
His sister touched his arm. “We need to go, Felix.”
He hated the fear and anger swirling in Laura’s eyes. But one of the last women attacked was her friend. She was rightfully angry. Especially to find out that his father could possibly be behind the attacks. Though he and Laura had different fathers, it didn’t affect their relationship. The two of them couldn't be closer. She was latent, but she’d followed him when he decided to start his own prowl. She could’ve easily made a life for herself in the human world. Instead she used her huge intelligence and law degree to help him and Derrick build their prowl into a prosperous one.
He nodded, gave one last lingering kiss to Savi's neck and released her. It was hard, but they had a prowl meeting and he needed to get his head into it. They needed to figure out how to keep the females in his new prowl safe.
Savannah surprised him by going up on her toes and hugging him tight. “Be safe.” She whispered.
He was touched and curious at how intuitive she was. He nodded, leaning to drop a light kiss to her lips. Derrick had entered the living room behind her. The Beta grabbed her and pulled her up into a hug. They whispered to each other and he didn’t bother trying to decipher what they were saying. He was happy she responded well to Derrick. It would make their Tribond happier, stronger. He prayed he’d find the words to get past her worries about mating. Seeing her in Derrick's arms triggered his need like nothing else could have.
He stepped closer to them, touching her shoulders, raising power as the three of them touched. Her energy soothed his, and in turn trickled down the prowl link. Laura let out a shuddering sigh and turned into her husband’s chest. His prowl needed this link, needed their Tribond and he would do whatever he needed to do to secure his mating.
“We'll talk when we get back, ok?” Derrick whispered into her ear.
Her head jerked in agreement, panic intertwining in her scent. He sighed. It would take a lot.
“Keep the kids in the building, if possible. I don’t know how long the meeting will last.”
She whipped around to him, “are you worried about their safety?”
Derrick kept his arms around her waist, keeping their connection intact.
Laura touched his back. “We’ll wait for you downstairs”
His gaze didn’t stray from Savannah. “I don't want to alarm you, but I would rather be safe than sorry. It’s why I asked you to stay here. I’ll have someone positioned at the gate, so no one should be able to get onto the property.”
He wanted to tell her everything. It was her right as Alpha female to know what was happening in the prowl. But...until he could get past her reluctance to mate, he wasn’t sure how much to tell. Should he tell her what the seer said, especially after what her grandparents told him about her experience with the last seer? He wasn’t sure how she would react.
“I don't have a lot of time to explain.” Carlos leaned down and nuzzled her neck. “You won’t be in the building alone. There is help downstairs if something happens.”
She sighed and looked away. He caught Derrick's eye, not having to use words to tell his Beta how hard it was to leave their mate. Derrick nuzzled on the other side of her neck. She let out a snarl that held a hint of power, a growl escaped both he and his Beta.
“I can't think with you guys doing that,” she whispered.
“Fuck.” Derrick let out a harsh breath, his arms coming around her waist, brushing against his stomach.
He watched his best friend’s teeth scrape against her neck and it took everything in Carlos not to sink his teeth into Savannah. “We'll explain everything when we get back. Just please keep yourself and the kids safe.” He forced his mind back to their conversation.
Her arm slid up to cup his face, as she moved her hips, grinding them back into him and then into Derrick. They both let out harsh breaths. He bit down on her neck barely restraining himself from sinking his teeth into her.
“My God, how is this possible?” she whispered.
His phone buzzed at his hip. He released her fragrant skin reluctantly. “We’ll sit and talk when we get back, ok?”
She hummed and kissed his neck. He shuddered, his panther damn near ripping through him to get to her. “You said that already.”
Derrick didn’t want to let go of Savannah, never mind actually leave her. He spun her around and kissed her lips, intending for it to be short, chaste. But Savi went up on her toes and sighed, her mouth opening. He took it for an invitation and devoured her. The kiss was hot, her moans sending his cat into a frenzy. She pulled back and licked her lips. He growled, the sound rattling his spine.
Her smile was mischievous. She knew what she did to him. “Be careful.”
Carlos turned her around and took his kiss and it took everything in Derrick to hold his cat back. His head started pounding, a hint that a premonition was coming in. He closed his eyes and let the images come. They flashed, each one giving him a hint of what would happen in the next few hours. He opened his eyes and knew what had to be done.
