I smiled and leaned across the table. “Did you bother to check the room schedules?”

Jace arched an eyebrow. “No. Why?”

I chuckled. “You know that big renovation project at the rec center?”

“Yeah?”

“I guess the rooms the various teams use to review footage are included, and that left a bunch of them scrambling to find spots.”

His dark eyes twinkled. “The AV study room?”

I nodded. “The AV study room, and a whole team of gorgeous alphas.”

“The whole team?” he asked, giving me a disbelieving look.

“Not the coach,” I laughed. “But the rest… damn. Like I have to make sure I’m sitting when they come through, and keep my legs under the counter so that if my cock perks up it won’t be seen.”

He burst into laughter. “Damn man. You’ve gotta be kidding me. And they’re all equally hot?”

I shook my head. “The captain and a few others are almost model-worthy. But there isn’t a bad looking man on the team.”

“What sport?”

“Lacrosse.”

“Maybe I should steal one of your upcoming night shifts… I am your boss after all.”

“Don’t you dare,” I mock-gasped. “Besides, you hate the closing shift.”

“It might be worth it if they’re as hot as you claim.” He paused. “They’re not a bunch of kids though, are they?”

I shook my head. “Naw. I think they’re all in their late twenties to early thirties.”

“Old enough to know how to treat a man right then.”

“Yep.”

“So you gonna make a move?”

I nearly choked on my beer. “Are you insane? Of course not!”

“Why not?”

“Cause men that good looking have to be mated already. Besides, the jock and nerd thing is just a romance trope. I wouldn’t stand a chance. I’m just going to enjoy the view while it lasts.”

“You never know if you don’t try though. You might have the nerdy thing going on with your slender build and glasses, but you’re cute enough. Alphas check you out way more than you think they do.”

“If anything, they’re trying to decide if they want to ignore me, or make fun of me.”

“Dude, it’s not high school anymore. Not even college. The alphas aren’t as shallow anymore. You should make a move.”

I sighed. “You know that’s not me.”

“It could be.”

I barked out a laugh. “Yeah, right…”

“As the jocks would say: you miss one-hundred percent of the shots you don’t take.”
