“Yup.”

I flipped him off, which earned me a hearty laugh. “Ok, I’ll leave. Just remember you sent me home if you decide you need me after all.”

“We can manage without ya. Don’t want ya to be late.”

I smiled. We could tease and rib each other, but at the end of the day we were family and he had my back.

“Thanks.” I headed toward the barn exit and fixed my hat. Then I strolled past the maze, through the pumpkin patch, to where my truck was parked.

I paused as I climbed in, looking out at the pumpkins, hay bales, and stands. This time next year I’d likely have a solid client list and wouldn’t have time to help at the farm. I’d still visit though. Would Scott be with me, round and ready to pop, or would we have a newborn with us as we picked out a pumpkin for our house?

For some reason I didn’t doubt that we’d be together.

Uncle Robert was right: whatever Scott and I had was special. Even though I hadn’t seen him since Sunday evening, I could feel it more every moment.

I started the truck and waved as I left.

I’d be back soon enough, my omega on my arm.

 Chapter 5 - Scott

Iheld a blue sweater to my chest and looked in the mirror. It brought out the color of my eyes, but I worried that it was a bit warm for it.

I sighed and grabbed a green button-down off my bed and held it up. It looked good, and was lighter than the sweater while still being warm enough if the evening got chilly. I pulled it on, then ran a hand through my curls.

It wasn’t perfect, but I looked good. I turned and smiled. My ass looked even better in my favorite pair of jeans.

Jeans that I hoped did the job. I wanted Dom to peel them down so that he could shove his cock in my ass. For the past two nights I’d dreamt about him fucking me hard until he knotted, and I was going to go nuts if he didn’t make it a reality.

My phone chimed with a notification. I grabbed it and grinned. Dom was outside my apartment building waiting for me.

I jogged out of my bedroom, snagging my wallet off the dresser as I went. I shoved it and my phone into my pocket and headed out.

My heart pounded and my cock threatened to perk up when I spotted Dom leaning against his truck. It had only been a handful of days since our first date, but it had been far too long since I’d seen him.

I needed this alpha in my life, and I knew it in my core. The years of loneliness and failed relationships had all been leading up to him.

He grinned, the expression lighting up his gorgeously rugged features. Then he strode over and pulled me into his arms.

I melted as he brushed his lips over mine. The simple touch was almost enough to make my toes curl, and I couldn’t help myself when he pulled back. I wrapped my arms around his neck and held him there so I could keep kissing him.

He growled low in his throat, a sound that went straight to my cock. Part of me wanted to drag him back to my apartment rather than go through with the date thing, but I was also excited about the haunted maze.

“We should go,” Dom murmured as we parted again. “I made reservations for dinner.”

“Mmhmm,” I replied, still focused on the kiss, and his scent. God he smelled amazing.

He stepped out of my arms, and I felt the loss of his warmth. He threaded his arm through mine and walked me to the passenger side. He opened the door for me, and I melted when I saw a bouquet of fall flowers sitting on the seat.

“For me?” I asked as he picked them up and handed them to me.

“I don’t see any other gorgeous men around. Do you?”

I smiled. “I’ve never had anybody buy me flowers before.”

Whoops, didn’t mean to say that out loud.

He took my hand. “Then it’s obvious that you’ve never been treated right. Flowers aren’t just for women.”
