Thursday already seemed an eternity away, especially when every one of my alpha instincts demanded that I go to the beautiful man and make him mine. One night, and I could already imagine the rest of my life with him. I wanted to see his soft blush, and the silvery scar of a bond mark on his neck. I wanted to watch him round out with our children and see the joy on his face when we met our first baby.

My cock hardened painfully at the thought of Scott being pregnant.

I turned onto my side, determined to sleep rather than deal with it. I wanted to be with Scott, and hopefully buried to the hilt inside him, the first time I came to thoughts of him.

I forced myself to think about the calls I needed to make the next day. I had to follow up on my vet license, and make sure that all my other business paperwork was proceeding as expected. Then I needed to chat with a couple ranchers uncle Robert had introduced me to.

I had some savings, but I needed to get to work sooner than later. That meant that I couldn’t let Scott consume all my thoughts.

However, visions of him filled me as I drifted off to sleep.

“What’re ya doin here?” uncle Robert asked, walking out of his kitchen. “I thought I told ya that ya had today off.”

I held up the styrofoam cooler. “Just bringing this back in case aunt Annabel needs it.”

He nodded. “She said she sent a couple steaks with ya. How were they?”

I scratched the back of my neck. “Actually… they’re still sitting in my fridge.”

“Oh?” he asked, one eyebrow going up. “I thought she said that ya planned to have one for dinner.”

“I did… then I ran into Scott at the grocery store.”

“Scott?” he asked, then a twinkle hit his eyes. “Ya mean the omega from the other day?”

I smiled. “Yeah. I was trying to pick out a salad dressing, then he was just there. I didn’t want to lose him again, so I asked him to dinner.”

“And ya didn’t treat him to the steak?” he asked.

“I thought about it, but I didn’t want to scare him off by inviting him to my place for a first date.”

Uncle Robert grunted. “Ya need to strike while the iron’s hot, and a home cooked meal is a sure way to a man’s heart.”

I laughed. “I took him to dinner at a nearby restaurant, and I’ve asked him to be my date for the soft-open of the haunted maze.”

He nodded. “I’ll make sure you’re off in time to enjoy your evenin’ then.”

“I don’t want to put too much work on anybody else…” I started.

He laughed. “We all know the drill around here. But it’s clear as day that whatever ya have with this omega is special.”

I held up my hands. “It just feels right. But I don’t think we’re fated. I didn’t have that feeling about it.”

“Ya don’t need to be fated for it to be right, an’ I can see that it’s right.”

“You really think so?”

“Ya looked at that boy like he hung the moon an’ the stars, an’ that was before ya knew his name. It was why I was surprised that ya walked away. That ya found him again means somethin’.”

I smiled. “You may be right.”

“Damn straight. Now get goin’ before I put ya to work.”

I laughed. “Yeah, yeah. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

He grunted again and nodded before wandering off to grab supplies for the pumpkin patch.
