David’s hand was warm in mine as we strolled the aisles between the stalls. Bright trays of fruits, vegetables, and homemade goods surrounded us.

Every few stalls my gorgeous omega would stop and examine the offerings, sometimes buying a few pieces, and other times he’d spend a few minutes talking to the vendor.

One thing I loved was that he would stop to explain what his plans were for anything he bought. Seeing his enthusiasm made me realize that cooking was more than just a job for him, it was a passion. It filled my heart with joy to know that he’d made a career of something he loved so much.

David stopped to talk with a beekeeper selling honey, and a pleasant smell caught my attention. I turned and saw two women selling bars of homemade soap.

I squeezed David’s hand, then released it to investigate the soap stand further.

It was simple, two scents: rosemary and lavender. But there was obvious love in the product, and I wanted to know more.

I purchased two bars, one of each scent, then asked the women to tell me about their business.

They described how they grew the ingredients on a small farm they’d inherited and made the soap in small batches. They talked about how they’d grown, and even been able to build a new workshop the year prior.

Then I asked about their goals, and they sighed. They wanted to take the next step, but weren’t sure if they were ready to branch out beyond small markets and sporadic internet sales.

I rubbed my chin. What would I suggest if I was developing a strategy for them?

 “Are you ready?”

I blinked and looked to see David beside me. “Sorry, yeah.”

He chuckled. “Good choice. Excellent soaps.”

Both women beamed at my omega.

I leaned in and kissed his temple. “I’d ask if that’s why you smell so good, but I think that’s just you.”

He blushed, and the women giggled.

I thanked them then led David off, still wondering how I would coach them in the next steps of their business.

It felt like there was potential there, if I was just willing to grab it.
