DHAKAR

My heart is broken as I think of Emma being mated to another. She belongs to me and yet she chose Anil'ha. How could she? What did he do that made her choose him over me? It's not like I haven't done anything for her. I have given her everything... my heart, my love, and now my soul. She should be mine and only mine!

I can't stop thinking about her. Her scent, her touch, her lips. Everything about her makes me feel alive again. She is my mate. My one and only. I will never let anyone else have her. I need her in my life. I love her too much to ever give up.

I'm not sure what to do. I know she doesn't love Anil'ha and I am going to find out why she chooses him instead of me. I am obsessed with finding out if she truly loves him or if it's just an act. Does she love me at all? Or does she mean to hurt me?

I remember the moments we shared on Bellaria. The taste of her mouth, the way she felt against my body... the way she moaned in pleasure. She tasted sweet and beautiful. Her softness was intoxicating. I had never experienced such pleasure before. Never been so satisfied.

But why would she choose him over me? It doesn't make sense. Why would she betray me like this? I need to know. I must save her. I am going back after her.

"Torr, we have to go back," I shout to my friend. "I don't believe her. I don't believe she's telling me the truth. I saw it in her eyes."

"Dhakar, I know you're hurt... you heard her loud and clear. She wants Anil'ha," he says to me. "She's a human and they are weak and fragile. I won't stand here and watch you destroy your life over something that is no longer your concern. You need to move on and find someone else."

"It's not like she has found anyone else!" I yell. "How can she? She told me she loved me, but then she left me and went off with Anil'ha! How is that possible?"

"She's a human and humans are weak and frail. They get hurt easily," Torr says as he wipes the blood from his nose.

I grab him by his throat and squeeze tighter. "Don't you dare say that about her? She is strong. She is powerful. She is everything I want in a female. I've never met any other like her. She is beautiful and perfect. She is mine."

Torr struggles to breathe. "Dhakar, let me go."

I release my hold and step back. "You're right. I can't blame her for choosing him. But I still care deeply for her and I'm going to try and save her from herself. I'm going to take her away from Anil'ha and bring her home where she belongs. I'll prove to everyone she loves me and always will. She will come back to me and realize how wrong she is."

He looks at me and smiles. "I hope so my friend! If there is even a chance she might return to you, then I support you 100 percent. I'd rather see her happy than miserable because she is stuck with some arrogant ass alien male who treats her badly. Maybe if she comes to her senses and realizes she deserves better, then maybe we can talk about bringing her back. Until that happens, I think you should focus on yourself. Get stronger and build your strength. That's what matters most to me."

"I want her back. I need her. I just can't let go," I tell him. "If she is truly meant to be my mate, then she will come back to me. No matter what obstacles I face, I am determined to win her over."

Torr nods and grins. "Well good luck, Dhakar. And please, give her time. She needs to figure things out on her own. Just be patient with her and trust that one day she will come back to you."

I look straight into his eyes. "I can't wait. Thank you, Torr. You are the best friend anyone could ever ask for."

Torr walks up to me and embraces me in a tight hug. His arms wrap around my chest and squeeze tightly. We stand like this for a few minutes until he finally pulls away.

"I'm sorry, Dhakar," he whispers to me while looking down at his feet.

I smile and shake my head. "No need to apologize, Torr. This was bound to happen eventually. I knew someday she wouldn't feel the same way about me anymore. It hurts, but I understand."

He turns toward me again and places both hands on my shoulders. "Look, I know you miss her terribly and would do anything to bring her back, but I also know you aren't ready yet. Don't rush into something that isn't meant to be. Give it time and heal. Focus on yourself. Be the person she fell in love with. When you are confident enough, only then should you consider trying to get her back."

"Thank you for being such a great friend," I reply. "But I don't buy into what she told. I don't think she loves Anil'ha. I feel it in my gut she was forced to tell me those things. What if she is in danger?"

"Danger? Why do you say that?"

"What if they took advantage of her? What if she has been brainwashed or drugged against her will? Something must have happened. How else did she end up falling in love with Anil'ha instead of me? She didn't choose him willingly."

Torr shakes his head and chuckles. "She chose him because she loved him. They are soulmates after all."

I nod as tears fill my eyes. "It's not true though. I know she doesn't belong with him."

Torr sighs loudly and runs a hand through his hair. "I agree, but we won't find out unless we go get her from the Valkryans. I don't know how... the city is stacked with soldiers ready to slit our throats."

I frown. "We'll figure something out. We always do."

Torr shrugs. "Maybe. But I doubt we will succeed without risking everything."
