Ludiin froze, every thought scattering. “You… you do?”

“Yes,” Tarymn admitted, pulling him closer until there was barely any space left to breathe. “Even though I fought it. Even though I told myself not to. I fell…hard. I think it started the moment we met. You caught my attention then, even when I was too damn stubborn to admit it.” His mouth twisted as if the confession burned. “I wanted you even then, but I was…”

“Angry,” Ludiin finished quietly. “Angry that Dad forced you to take care of us.” He pressed his forehead against Tarymn’schest, wishing desperately that fate had been kinder. “I wish he hadn’t done that.”

“I don’t,” Tarymn countered immediately. The words shocked Ludiin enough that his head jerked up. “If he hadn’t, I wouldn’t have met you. He might have been a bastard for leaving me and Hym, but he gave me you. He made me the happiest alpha alive.”

His lips brushed over Ludiin’s cheek in a tender kiss, his hands smoothing down his back in slow caresses. Ludiin melted into his touch, craving more, and Tarymn gave it to him. Soft, lingering kisses that trailed across his skin until his mouth finally claimed Ludiin’s in a devouring kiss.

Fuck,Ludiin silently groaned as another wave of need coursed through him. He arched desperately into Tarymn, unable to get enough, but just as the world began to blur, Tarymn broke away, a strange light burning in his eyes.

“No more Ford. Okay?” Tarymn growled.

“Now? You want to talk about himnow?” Ludiin asked, breathless, lips still tingling from Tarymn’s kiss.

“Ludiin, I’m serious.” Tarymn’s gaze pinned him. “The only way I survived these past five years was knowing you were always here, safe, with no alphas sniffing around you. Now the thought of that bastard anywhere near you…” he cut himself off, jaw tightening, “…it’s driving me insane.”

Ludiin’s chest tightened at the raw edge in his tone. “I know, but Ford’s my friend. You told me to make friends.”

“Not him.”

“He’s nice to me,” Ludiin said, his voice low. “He doesn’t think I'm weird.”

“You’re not weird, Ludiin,” Tarymn said roughly.

“I know,” Ludiin murmured, then brightened a little. “It just feels…nice. To have someone besides family who actually gets me.”

A groan escaped Tarymn against Ludiin’s shoulder, a small, possessive sound that sent a warm shiver down the Ludiin spine. “Fuck. Okay. But if I catch him shirtless anywhere near you, I will kill him.”

Ludiin blinked, then laughed. “Alright. He’ll keep his shirt on,” he promised, nudging Tarymn’s ribs with an affectionate grin.

Tarymn’s shoulders eased. “Good. Now… where was I?” His lips brushed Ludiin’s again, but before he could claim his mouth fully… footsteps thundered up the stairs.

They didn’t have time to separate.

“Ludiin, Ford is…” Luci stopped dead at the landing. His eyes went wide, darting from Ludiin to Tarymn, then to their entwined bodies. He coughed, backing away so fast he nearly tripped over himself. “Sorry. I didn’t know you were…uh…never mind!” He bolted down the stairs.

“Luci?” Ludiin called, panic flashing through him, but Tarymn’s hand clamped around his arm before he could run after his brother.

“What? I need to talk to him and explain...”

“He already knows,” Tarymn cut in. He leaned down, lips brushing the mark on Ludiin’s neck in a kiss that sent a shudder down his spine. “He saw this.”

As if to confirm it, Hym’s voice bellowed from downstairs. “Finally!”

Heat rushed to Ludiin’s cheeks.

“See?” Tarymn said smugly, tugging him to his feet, then the stairs.

“Where are you taking me?” Ludiin asked, half-dazed.

“To our room,” Tarymn said. “I’m not done with you yet. I haven’t had sex in a long time, Ludiin. We’ve got a lot to make up for.”

The words stopped Ludiin cold. He yanked him back, heart hammering. “Wait. What do you mean? What about your heats? I thought…”

“What?” Tarymn’s eyes darkened, something dangerous and tender burning in them all at once. “That I was with other omegas. After I realized you were my mate. I only wanted you.”

“But you never… how did you…?”
