“Jeebus, Heaven,” I moaned, fighting the need to thrust deeper and push against the back of her throat. “You may have never done this before, but you’ve got one hell of a set of natural skills.” She laughed naughtily, and it dragged an uncontrollable moan from my lips. The feeling of her laughter vibrating against my hardness had me too close, and I grasped her face, holding her head still while I took some shallow breaths. “If you don’t stop, this play will end before the final act. Lay back, angel,” I ordered when she released me from her warm lips. I was only comforted by the fact that I was about to sink between another pair that would make everything worth it.

“What’s the best way?” she asked nervously, licking her lips until I kissed her and grabbed her tongue gently between my teeth.

“Whatever way makes you feel good because, darlin’, I’m going to feel good no matter how we do it.”

“I have to be careful of my arm,” she said without making eye contact.

I tipped her chin back until I could hold her gaze while my lips took a tour of her breasts. “I’m going to take good care of you, and we’re going to go slow. Don’t you dare turn away from me.”

She nodded, and I stroked her center again, pleased when her wetness covered my hand. I rubbed it across Mr. Monster then lifted her legs, spreading them apart until they were open and relaxed. I aligned our bodies, and with my eyes trained on hers, I pushed forward carefully, watching for pain. She grimaced, so I backed off, waiting until she got used to the feel of me before moving again. Slowly, she swallowed the length of me, and my entire body quivered with the effort it took to go slow and not hurt her.

“Heaven,” I moaned, thrusting forward a little bit more. “Tell me you feel that.”

Her gaze lifted to mine, and she pulled me down, kissing me hard and fast. “I feel every part of you,” she whispered, “the good, the bad, the love, the pain, all of it. I want all of you,” she promised, lifting her pelvis toward mine.

“Oh, yes,” I moaned, thrusting forward again until she was trembling and begging me to come with her.

“I need to let go,” she cried, her thighs shaking from the exertion of holding back.

“Let go, angel. I’m going to follow you as soon as you let go,” I promised.

Her spasm started, and she squeezed me so tightly I lost all control, moaning, and calling her name as I emptied every last broken piece of me deep inside her. She had finally made me whole again.

“You own me now, Heaven!” I called out, my hips thrusting against her soft mound of love and acceptance. “Forever, angel, forever.”

The soft, tender smile of a well-loved woman that she wore on her lips was the only thing I’d need for the rest of my life.

Fourteen

The last few weeks had been like living in, well, heaven. In a few minutes, I was going to meet Blaze in the lower pasture for a campfire and, most likely, a little bit of lovemaking, since we couldn’t keep our hands off each other. We’d spent those same few weeks sneaking back and forth between each other’s barns for a roll in the hay whenever possible.

If only I had known that forgiving myself would make me feel so much lighter, I would have done it years ago. Watching Blaze come back to life told me he felt the same way. Every time we made love, we forgave ourselves a little bit more. Being with him in this way made everything a little bit easier too. Working on the ranch was fun again, and even Dawn and Tex noticed the change in me.

Blaze’s father had agreed to the two million asking price for the pasture. In a few weeks, we would sign the paperwork, and I’d have the money I needed to finish transforming Heavenly Lane. I was happy, truly happy, for the first time in as long as I could remember, and the sexy cowboy waiting for me in the twilight up on that ridge was the reason why.

Blaze had texted that he was running behind, so I’d decided to visit with Dawn, Beau, and Tex by their campfire first. I slid into a seat and accepted a beer from Dawn. “Thanks.” I tapped my bottle to hers and drank it down, laughing with them about the shenanigans of Bert the goat.

I noticed everyone was lighter these days. We laughed more, worked together better, and coexisted in a kinder, gentler way.

“Maybe that white bison held magical powers after all,” I pondered, staring into the fire. “Ever since Wicapiwakan was born, things have been better for all of us.”

Dawn snorted and almost choked on her beer. “Sure, it could have been the bison. Or maybe it was because you finally stopped pretending that you weren’t in love with Blaze.” Her eyes rolled so hard I was afraid they were never going to face forward again. Since Beau was sitting right there, I had to bite back my snarky response about her getting the same clue.

Beau pointed at me with his bottle. “I think she’s onto something. Life has been better for all of us. You’re turning the ranch into something workable for where you are in life now and the future. Since you agreed on the land sale, Blaze is finally going to own his ranch too. He’s even giving me a percentage of it.”

I lowered my bottle and tipped my head to the side. “Ash is giving Blaze the ranch?”

Beau swallowed his beer and nodded. “Yes, ma’am. He told Blaze if he got the pasture from you, then he’d finally deed him the ranch. It’s about damn time.”

Why hadn’t Blaze told me that himself? I nodded along as the conversation turned to other things, but I was still stuck on Blaze getting the ranch.

Wait.

Did Beau say if Blaze got the pasture from me? What did he mean by that? Was that what Blaze wanted all along, and I just handed it to him on a silver platter?

No.

It had to be a coincidence, right? Blaze probably just found out about it and planned to tell me tonight. That would make more sense.
