“You okay?”
“Yeah,” I say, my voice low. “Yeah, I am.”
We go back to a comfortable silence, our bodies still snuggled together, both of us enjoying each other’s company and basking in the simplicity of what our love means.
“You sure you don’t wanna run off to Vegas?” Remmy whispers, eliciting a chuckle from me. “I’m totally cool with wearing something off the rack. It doesn’t even have to be white, you know?”
This girl.
“You deserve a real wedding, Remmy,” I reply. “Something you get to think about and plan and be proud of, not some hasty thing we’ve rushed to put together. We’re not a secret, and we’re not temporary. Let’s take our time.”
I canfeelher roll her eyes.
“Why do you have to be so logical?”
“I’m just built that way. I guess you could say it’s one of my many superpowers.”
She pulls back and looks at me, her eyes light and full of mischief.
“Do you like superheroes?” she asks.
I clear my throat. “I mean, I’m a little confused about the change in subject, but yes. As you like to point out frequently, I’m a bit of a nerd. I am very connected to the Marvel Universe.”
Remmy beams at me. “We should totally roleplay in superhero costumes.”
I snort. “Is everything about sex with you?”
Her smile never wavers. “Duh. Have you not heard about my reputation? Even your dad has heard of me.”
Narrowing my eyes, I flip her around so she’s lying on her back.
“Pulling my dad into this conversation is too far.”
She giggles and tugs me down so I’m hovering over her, my face inches from hers.
Then she licks her lips and bites her bottom one.
“You know, I could get used to this.”
“What?”
“Playful sex. Silly sex. It’s never been like this before, fun and ridiculous and goofy and…”
“You think we havegoofysex?” I ask, knowing I’m baiting her.
She rolls her eyes, her hands rubbing up and down my shoulders and biceps.
“I think we havegreatsex. I’m just saying it’s different. With you it’s so different from how it’s ever been before.”
“I think it’s pretty great, too.”
Remmy swats my arm. “Well, duh. You were practically a virgin before me—of course it’s going to be amazing. Sheesh, there’s so much for me to teach you.”
I sigh, dropping my head.
She takes my cheeks in her hands and lifts my face back up so I’m looking into her eyes—her beautiful fucking eyes that I know I’m never going to get enough of.
“You know I’m joking, right?”
