“I asked you a fucking question,” he reiterated.

“Yes,” Chandler said, instead, taking the attention off me. “And I have no regrets.”

Deacon turned to him. “Is that so?”

Chandler grinned. “As a matter of fact, this was my idea, just like killing that wolf and vampire was.”

“Well, well, well… aren’t you the audacious human?” Deacon remarked. “That’s a lot of fucking bragging you’re doing.”

“Sir?” One of the human guards began. He was still lying flat on the floor.

Deacon turned to him. “What?”

“He killed Jimmy and told us to tell our boss that they had killed the other wolf and vampire, too,” the guard said, confirming what Chandler declared.

Deacon arched an eyebrow. “Interesting.” He turned back to Chandler. “Not many humans have your nerve, I’ll give you that. So, it was your idea to kidnap my mate and kill him? You weren’t as smart as you thought you were. Should have gotten rid of his clothes, seeing how I made sure to have a GPS tracker on my mate.”

Fuck… I’d made certain to ditch his cell phone, but I hadn’t thought of any other tracker.

Deacon smiled. “As soon as I got wind of his car abandoned on the street, I was on a mission. I must give you credit, this was turning out to be a rather boring afternoon until you pulled your stunt.” He removed his foot off Delilah’s back. “Stay put,” he told her, then walked over to where Chandler was being detained. He squatted down in front of him. “I’m going to have some fun with you, boy. Once I get done making your insides your outsides, you’re going to regret ever laying a fucking hand on what belongs to me.”

“Can I play with him too, Deacon?” the big ass wolf holding Chandler asked.

Deacon smiled. “Of course.” He took another puff of his cigar and blew the smoke out in Chandler’s face, causing him to cough a little. “Get him the fuck out of here.”

The big wolf nodded and dragged Chandler to his feet, then out the door. Delilah screamed and tried to rise from the floor, but another wolf kicked her in her side. She cried out in pain and coughed as the air rushed out of her.

“Argg!” I growled and tried to break free, but really, it was no use. It felt like I was trapped in a vice. Damn that fucking GPS and damn Chandler for getting us in this situation. Shit, shit, shit! It’d all happened too fast when we were in the moment, but no one had even brought it up during our planning. I kept asking people to discuss it, just in case we had missed something, but everyone was so sure. Hell, even I hadn’t thought of it, but maybe if we hadn’t been so cocky, somebody else might have. God, we had fucked up, and badly.

Deacon walked up to me, smiling. “I can smell the fear and rage coming off of you like piss off an alley rat’s ass. I bet you thought you had all of your bases covered, didn’t you?”

I spit at him because, damn it, if I was going to die, I would at least go out fighting one way or another. The other wolves gasped, and I heard some of them saying that I’d ‘fucked up’ by spitting on their Alpha. I didn’t give a shit, though. “Fuck you!” I snarled.

Deacon looked down at his suit where my spit had landed on his lapel, then he looked back up at me. “I ought to rip your tongue out and shove it down your throat for that, but I have a better plan.” He took the handkerchief from his pocket and used it to wipe off my saliva. He then walked away from me towards Delilah. “I can tell you care a great deal about this one.”

I wanted to say something, but I couldn’t. I’d already agitated the monster enough as it was, I didn’t want him to take his anger over me out on Delilah. We might all die today, but I hoped he’d make it quick for the others.

“Boys, can you smell the pussy juices on this whore?” he asked his pack.

“Fuck yeah, Boss. That bitch has got my balls aching for a tight snatch,” one of his wolves said.

“I thought so,” Deacon said with an evil smirk. “I have to make a few phone calls, but I don’t see why my guys can’t enjoy themselves while we wait.”

Oh shit… no, I couldn’t let that happen. I certainly couldn’t watch it happening. “Please don’t!” I begged.

The Alpha turned to me, one eyebrow cocked. “‘Please don’t’ what? Let my wolves rip apart this cunt’s pussy while they load her up with wolf spunk?” he asked.

The thought of seeing Delilah raped by a pack of wild beasts made me just as enraged as it did nauseous. I swallowed hard and nodded. “I—I’m sorry,” I said softly, which was something I never, ever wanted to do. Apologize to one of these sons of bitches, I meant. But if it would spare Delilah that agony, I’d do whatever it took. “Take me instead,” I offered.

Deacon laughed. “You don’t have any bargaining chips here, boy. There is no either/or. You’re all mine to do with as I so please. You’re rebels, which means you don’t have any rights. Now, I’m sure my wolves would love to ravish your ass just as much as hers, but I’m feeling rather benevolent. You see, I’m not the only supe you’ve made enemies of, and I’m sure they’ll want to meet you.”

“We didn’t kill that vampire or the werewolf,” I told him, wanting to set the record straight.

Deacon rolled his eyes. “Sure, you didn’t. Just like you didn’t mean to spit on my fucking suit.”

“Why would I lie about that?” I asked.

“Why wouldn’t you?” Deacon countered, one eyebrow cocked. “You were caught trying to kill my mate. Lying is all you have left now.”
