“Your sister and dad are fairies? I’d like to meet them one day.” Lita was curious to meet more of her kind.

“My sister is here somewhere. I’ll introduce you to her.” Reed looked down and saw the worried look on Caden’s face. “So … if I bring us back, am I going to die?”

Lita chuckled. “No, but why did you project me here in the first place?”

Reed looked away and then back toward Lita. “Okay … but don’t tell anyone. It was a reflex at first. You sort of scared me, haha. I thought this would be safer for me.”

“I’m Lita. Let’s be friends.” She walked up and extended her hand to him. He shook it gently and gave her a big, flashy smile. Lita felt her world shift, and the next thing she knew, she was standing beside Caden.

“LITA!” Caden’s arms crashed around Lita, and he pulled her deep into his chest as he glared at the man in front of him.

“Oof, easy, Caden. I’m fine. This is my new friend, Reed.” Lita pushed herself back out of his arms and motioned toward Reed.

“I take it this is the boyfriend?” Reed noticed how Caden had embraced her.

“No. This is just my friend.” Lita giggled. Oh yeah, speaking of boyfriend …Asher, I’m fine. I’m in the haunted room with Caden and my new friend. Sorry for worrying you.

She heard a loud commotion and then, in a blur, she was in Asher’s arms. He scooped her up and held her flush against him.

I couldn’t feel you at all. You’re okay, thank goodness you’re okay. I felt numb. I couldn’t feel you. I couldn’t reach you. That’s enough heart attacks for me. I’m just going to sew you to me.Asher’s mind raced with word after word, never needing to speak any.

Lita felt the trembling in his hands. Their mindlink had been cut off, so he wasn’t able to feel her presence anymore. It was as if she had disappeared into thin air, causing him to jump to a dangerous conclusion. Something had happened to her, and he couldn’t find her. Pressing her face into his neck, she nuzzled into his mark, gently kissing it and holding him, calming her mate.

It was a simple gesture, but it was one that brought a relaxed smile to Asher’s lips. He pulled back and leaned his head into hers. His world wasn’t collapsing. She was right here in front ofhim. He shifted his gaze to Reed. He knew from Lita’s thoughts that he wasn’t a bad guy, even if he had been interested in his girl at first.

“My mom wasn’t kidding when she said that werewolves were passionate creatures that worshiped their mates.” Reed grinned awkwardly at the intense moment in front of him. Most people cared about having an audience. For the couple in front of him, it was as if they were the only people who existed. It was very clear there would be no room for anyone else in their hearts.

“A warlock huh? I’ve met a few before. Though I never met one who could astral project.” Asher straightened up, keeping Lita locked in his side, and extended his hand toward Reed, who shook it firmly.

“I've never met a werewolf before … well, at least knowingly.” Reed chuckled.

“What should we do with this guy? And what happened here?” Caden asked as he nudged the guy with his foot.

“Lita’s probably the scariest girl I’ve ever met. That's what happened here. I swear she broke his arm and knocked him out in a single hit. It’s enough that I’m going to try my best to never tick her off. As for him, I say just leave him there and we bail. Let the next group find him and take care of it.” Reed shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t care to get involved with taking his co-worker to the hospital.

“Sounds good. Let’s head out the side. Kristen’s worried about you, and maybe a bit angry that you ordered her to leave.” Asher raised his brows at Lita, who shrugged indifferently.

“I was protecting her. I don’t regret it, and I'd do it again.” Lita let Asher lead her toward the side exit, while Reed and Caden followed. When the door opened, there was Caspian—then Kristen, with tears on her eyelashes, leaning into Garrett's embrace. Then, there was Grayson, standing a few feet away, his face void of expression.

“Ordered … so, are you like a higher-ranked werewolf?” Reed asked.

“She’s our luna, and right there is the alpha of our pack,” Caden said, motioning to Asher.

“No shit?! Wow! I got to meet a real alpha and luna. That’s amazing!” Reed’s cell phone started going off at that moment. “Hello. I’m over by the fun house. No, I didn’t leave without you … but … if … listen … fine! Man, my sister’s a pain. She’s on her way over here though, Lita, so you’ll be able to meet her soon.”

Lita nodded to Reed, then smiled at Kristen. “You mad at me?”

Kristen shook her head. “I’m supposed to protect you, not the other way around. I felt so helpless knowing I was only a hindrance to you.” Garrett’s arm tightened around her.

“Thank you, Lita, for protecting my Krissy girl. She’s my everything, and I selfishly appreciate it.” Garrett lowered his head in appreciation toward Lita.

“Stop, Garrett. Kristen’s my friend. Plus, you’re wrong, Kristen. It’s my job to protect you, too.” Lita watched as a girl with dark hair and sun-kissed skin walked toward them. She had an orange glow around her and was looking directly at Reed. When she got a few feet away, she stopped and turned her gaze to Lita in shock.

“Oh, my word. I don’t even know how to act right now.” She bowed her head toward Lita and Asher while fidgeting nervously.

“That’s not necessary. Please, come closer so we can meet.” Lita’s voice was smooth and gentle.

The girl looked up in excitement. “I can’t believe I’m actually meeting THE princess and prince. This is like the best day ever!”
