Asher leaned his head toward Lita in confusion. “How does she know who we are?”

“All fairies recognize the royals. You can’t see it, but there’s a special aura and scent that comes off you. It leads us to you andlets us recognize you immediately. Hey Rosa, long time no see.” Caspian flashed a smile at the girl.

“Caspian, nice to see you again. You been taking good care of the royals?” Rosa asked sternly.

“I try,” Caspian chuckled out. “But our royals sure are a handful.”

Rosa then looked over at Grayson, who had walked up closer to Lita. Her body became noticeably rigid, and fear flashed over her eyes. Guardians were not someone any fairy wanted to upset.

“Don’t be frightened, Rosa. I would like for us to be good friends. Don’t worry about Grayson. He won’t bother you … that’s something special he likes to do to me.” Lita looked at Grayson out of the corner of her eye and watched a small smile curl at the corner of his lips. She knew he was upset about their fight and would be worried about whether or not she was still mad at him. It was a conversation they could have at a different time.

“I won’t bother you, unless you give me a reason to.” Grayson looked over at Rosa, then back to Lita. She was too trusting. Sure, most fairies would never harm her. He wasn’t willing to take that chance on this girl and extend his hand in friendship. They knew nothing about her and didn’t know if she would be a problem or not.

She watched Rosa, who suddenly looked a bit confused. It was like she was searching for something. Then her gaze shifted toward Reed … but it wasn’t Reed she was looking at. It was the guy next to him. Her eyes were locked with Caden’s.

“MATE.” Caden’s voice resonated loudly as he looked at Rosa.

Chapter 71

He walked up to the girl slowly, not wanting to scare her. She might not have a wolf in her screaming “mate”, but sheshould feel the pull toward him as her other half. Still, he wanted to make sure she was receptive to him.

“I have been waiting for you for a very long time. You’re the half of me that’s been missing.” Caden reached his hand out and gently touched Rosa’s cheek. His eyes teared up as he gazed at the girl with a look of pure adoration. He didn’t know this was what it felt like to find your mate—how instantly someone could become more important than everyone else.

Rosa looked up at Caden. She could feel herself being pulled to him. She had heard what it was like from other fairies who were mated to werewolves, that they instantly felt drawn and connected to the person, and once they received their mating mark, they were consumed with thoughts of only them. They were right, though she didn’t know about the mark yet. She just knew. She knew he was the one she’d been waiting for, that she was meant to be his. She smiled at him and allowed herself to get lost in his eyes. He looked at her like she was the only person who existed in the world.

Asher cleared his throat. “You two kids want to go get acquainted?” He watched as the two snapped back to reality and noticeably reddened.

“Do you want to walk around with me so we can talk?” Caden asked, and Rosa nodded her head. “If you don’t mind, Alpha, I’d appreciate it.” Asher nodded, and Caden took Rosa’s hand.

Asher knew what Caden was feeling right now. He'd found his reason for living, and nothing would ever be the same. He was happy for his beta. For him, at this moment, his life was just beginning.

“I guess I can talk to her later.” Lita giggled with a shrug.

“Baby, you’ll be able to talk to her whenever you want. She’s Caden’s mate. She’ll be joining us in our pack and in our house.” Asher gave her a wry smile.

“What if she doesn’t want to?” Reed suddenly shot off, feeling protective over his sister.

“Of course, if she doesn’t want to, that’s one thing, but that’s unlikely. You can see it. She felt it too.” Caspian looked over at Reed, who nodded.

“Yeah, she did look quite smitten with him, didn’t she?” Reed looked out in the distance where his sister had disappeared. As long as this was what she wanted, then he had no issues with it.

“Don’t worry, Reed. Caden’s a great guy. I love him to pieces, and I know he’ll treat Rosa well.” Lita knew just how wonderful Caden really was. Any girl would be lucky to have him. “Well, I guess this means we’ll get to see you often, too.”

“Yeah, maybe I’ll be lucky, and I’ll be a mate to one of your pack wolves. Instant girlfriend sounds great to me.” Reed grinned at his idea.

“Just be careful. Some of these she-wolves are troublemakers.” Asher tugged Lita and winked at her.

“Sounds like most women I know, then,” Reed teased. “I need to get back to my job. I still have a shift to finish. We'll talk more later, when I come to visit.”

“Okay sounds good. I imagine we’ll be making a trip to your home soon for Rosa’s things,” Lita said with a wink. Reed nodded his head and walked back toward the concession stands.

Another fairy would be joining their pack, which was exciting for Lita. Plus, she'd met a warlock and witnessed an interesting power. There was still an elephant in the room, though. She needed to talk things out with Asher and Grayson, more so with Grayson. The two of them were fighting, and he couldn’t read her mind. Asher already knew what she was thinking. She could sense that he had mixed emotions over it and, while he didn’t like it at all, he understood. She was too powerful to keep locked away. She was an asset and, regrettably, one they would have to use. She wanted Asher with her to help talk with Grayson, though. After all, he was her mate. No one wanted to keep her safe more than him.

“Would you three mind excusing us for a moment? We have something to discuss.” Asher, knowing Lita’s mind, took the initiative and asked Kristen, Garrett, and Caspian to give them some time to sort things out. He wanted everything patched up since this was supposed to be their day of fun. He watched his three pack members head off toward the arcade again, then turned and faced Lita and Grayson.

“I feel like Caden getting a fairy for a mate is much more than coincidence. Feels like fate is playing with our deck of cards again,” Lita pondered. What are the odds that both the alpha and the beta had fairy mates?

Grayson looked at her and then back at Asher. He suddenly felt a bit insecure, because he couldn’t take it if she was still mad at him. Asher tilted his head toward Lita, motioning for him to say something. “Can we talk about earlier?” His voice came out meeker than he’d planned.
